The Holy Theocratic Republic of Anubinia

The Holy Theocratic Republic of Anubinia is one of the oldest nations in the PEEL Region.

Founded thousands of years ago by Pharaoh Ra the Great, the nation went into isolation and has only recently come back into the PEEL Political Arena. The nation is ruled by a reigning cast of "living gods", a different sentient species of PEEL with long life spans and genetic abnormalities. The citizens of Anubinia have long been totally subservient to the Gods, and lead a life of total servitude. Religion is in every part of Anubinian society, and every citizen's life revolves around ascention to the afterlife.

Recently, with the deaths of Pharaoh Osiris and his son, Crown Prince Horus, a coup led by Osiris' brother Set brought about a new regime. Set and his closest ally, General Anubis seized control and began a tyrannical rule, one which constantly threatened the other nations of PEEL.

In 2052, Set created the "Holy Dominion", an alliance of dictatorial governments in PEEL. The new alliance began a huge military buildup and caused a string of uprisings in many PEEL nations, each which brought new nations into the alliance. But in late months of that year, the Republic of Yugopatomia declared war on Anubinia and the Holy Dominion after a crippling EMP attack killed thousands in the Yugopatomian Capital. Soon after, it's allies in COMECON and elsewhere also declared war, and soon the entire region was enveloped in a bloody war.

After months of fighting however, the Anubinian Capital of Luxor fell to Coalition forces and Supreme Pharaoh Set fled the country.

In the aftermath, a new government was set up, led by Pharaoh Thoth the Wise. The new regime established a Theocratic Republic and presented the citizens of Anubinia with civil rights for the first time in it's history. The nation was also inducted into the Free Trade Organization and has recently given up on it's long history of isolationism and has opened up to the international community.
