Arghan
Arghan is a relatively new country in the world, created by reclaiming huge amounts of land from the Pacific Ocean, halfway between Hawaii and Australia. It was a joint venture by the British and American governments to create a utopian society modelled on the best aspects of life in both countries. The land was donated by at least 6 Western Governments who remained anonymous but in return for their generosity, the Government of Arghan is urged to donate 20% of its annual GDP to these 6 countries. The first leader, President Donald Scotland, secured dictatorial rule over the country in 1990, with an aim to providing full democracy within 4 years, with Presidential elections. Elections have since taken place.
States
There are 15 states in Arghan; Anniko, Astan, Carson, Cliffside, Danforth, Debil, Delvada, Gold Bayland, Lexington, Mudjvayah, Piston Provorock, Senterino, Summerland and Turleck. Each has control over "state" affairs but federal laws overrule any state laws. Each state is divided into council boards, depending on the size of the population.
Major Cities
All 15 state capitals play an important part in state and federal government although all Government Headquarters are located on the shore of Lake Cassieva in the capital. Cassieva itself is the 9th largest city in Arghan, and Lake Cassieva is the largest lake in the country. The biggest city is Hobb's Bay in the north, which has grown extensively in recent years thanks to the location of the international docks there, with regular connections with Japan, USA, Canada and Australia. Fairford was traditionally the largest city, within Mudjvayah, the largest state, however Hobb's Bay has knocked the city into 2nd (The state is still the largest).
Transport
There are six main airports in Arghan, Gold Bayland Airport, Fairford International, Gardner International, Turleck Airport, Lake International (servicing the capital Cassieva) and Cliffside State. All major cities are connected by an extensive motorway system. There are also three docks in Arghan, Hobb's International Port, Thunder Bay Port and East Bay Trading Int'l (which is only for trade with other nations, with no commercial travel).
Future Developments
President Donald Scotland is keen on introducing further elections for various council posts throughout the country and is introducing a new law which would ensure no official can hold office for longer than two terms. He also wishes to oversee the development and growth of the country.
