Arlington

Arlington is a city in northeast Zwangzug. It has no notable character as a city: in fact, it is so representative of its nation that that might be its truest claim to fame. It is twinned with Anyuna, the capital of Northern Bettia.

North Star Elementary

There are about a dozen elementary schools within Arlington. North Star, however, is by far the most famous: during World Cup 35, a class of its fifth graders answered a worldwide survey from Ariddia. The teacher of that class, Paige Lowell, had many unique personalities among her students. They include Carly (a precocious girl excited by the quadratic theorem), Thomas (a tall boy with long-term World Cup predictions), David (an interruptive boy), Laura (a brash, insulting girl), Alex (an emotionally skilled but intellectually mediocre student with legible handwriting, a rarity in Zwangzug), Connor (a computer hacker), Hailee, Vicki (an oboist), and Nicholas (Carly's neighbor in the classroom). Mr. Beane is also a fifth grade teacher: one of his students, Mara, is the same age as the aforementioned.

Fifth grade is also the year when students begin playing in the band. Legend has it that the acquaintances of a future fifth grader told her that clarinet would be painful, so she listed baritone as her second choice ahead of clarinet. After being denied the opportunity to play percussion and spending a pneumonia-afflicted summer failing to succeed with the baritone, she picked up the tenor saxophone and became world-famous.
