Audioslavia is an extremely old nation. Formed in December 2002, it has been mostly apathetic towards foreign affairs. Modern Audioslavia has never participated in any wars, and has only made itself known once, in protecting ex-region mates The Belmore Family from trade blockages many many years ago, although nobody can quite remember who Audioslavia was protecting TBF from.

Audioslavia is one of the oldest nations in the world, its borders remaining the very same that were marked out in mounds of earth by the ancient celtic settlers millenia ago. Audioslavia developed quickly and early and, despite never being a leader in world politics, was consistent in its high degrees of wealth and power throughout history, achieving much in the fields of social welfare, foreign relations and sporting prowess.

Nevertheless, what Audioslavian history has lacked in international incidents it makes up for in sporting achievement. Well, sporting participation at least. Football has always been the number one sport in Audioslavia, although its mistrust of foreigners led it to ignore the first three Football World Cup tournaments. After being impressed by the tournament, Audioslavia entered its national side into World Cup 4, and the rest is in the history books. And the 'Sport' section on this page.

This state of affairs changed when, five decades ago, the cauldron of inter-city sporting, political and religious rivalry boiled into the nation's first, only and - taking into account the damage caused - last civil war.

The Audioslavian mainland is seperated into eight distinctive sections, or 'counties'. Machinegardia (pronounced Mash-In-Gard-Ee-Ya) lies in the south east near the border of the former Lemmitania. Phoenix (Fee-Nix) is located to the south, Wallingham (Wol-Ling-Um) lies south-west, Caylerden (Kay-Ler-Dun) is in the far west, Soundgardia (Sao-Und-Gar-Dee-Ya) is in the north-west near the Belmorian Sea. Ridern (Ridd-Urn) is in the far north, next to Fatherham (Fah-thuh-rum) in the north-east and finally Cornellby (Core-Nul-Bee or Core-Nell-Be to locals) in the east.

Before the war, Audioslavia's gargantuan landmass was divided into eight sectors, dominated by its oldest regions Machingardia to the north and Soundgardia to the south. The ravages of war have since torn apart the boundaries and charred much of the landscape. Audioslavia's national borders remain in tact due to the massive stone 'curtains' that were built in the nation's economic heyday, and as a result of this, 98.7% of the land in Audioslavia is deemed wasteland, due to the fallout from the violent destruction of the country's nuclear facilities.

Audioslavia's government does not take into account any religious beliefs when making decisions, and caters for the athiest point of view. However, 88% of all Audioslavians are catholic. This irregularity has spawned many fruitless debates and protests at the government to recognise that Audioslavia is a religious society, but usually to no avail, and the country remains 'officially' without religion.
+
Post-war Audioslavia has continued pre-war Audioslavia's policy of having no official religion, though unlike old Audioslavia there is no catholic majority. Around 9% of current Audioslavia are catholic, with other christian religions, eastern religions such as Islam, Buddhism etc making up less than 1% each. The remaining 90% are apathetic, due to the total lack of prominent places of worship since the war.

+
Other religions include Islam (0.7%), Buddhism (0.25%), Paganism (1.6%) and Protestantism (1.6%) with the rest declaring themselves Athiest or, for the more sarcastic, Jedi.

Football is the nation's favourite past-time, and the only sport to be played in Audioslavia at a professional level. Rugby is also extremely popular, as is athletics and also Ice Hockey. Cricket is played by a select few in the rural areas of Audioslavia. A history of Audioslavia's football progress can be found at the Audioslavia's Football History page

This state of affairs changed when, five decades ago, the cauldron of inter-city sporting, political and religious rivalry boiled into the nation's first, only and - taking into account the damage caused - last civil war.

Geography

Before the war, Audioslavia's gargantuan landmass was divided into eight sectors, dominated by its oldest regions Machingardia to the north and Soundgardia to the south. The ravages of war have since torn apart the boundaries and charred much of the landscape. Audioslavia's national borders remain in tact due to the massive stone 'curtains' that were built in the nation's economic heyday, and as a result of this, 98.7% of the land in Audioslavia is deemed wasteland, due to the fallout from the violent destruction of the country's nuclear facilities.

Cathair

Cathair (simply 'City' in the local dialect) is Audioslavia's only remaining urban area, housing 96% of the population (currently 102,320) and situated in almost the very centre of the nation. By default it is the economic and political capital.

Religion

Post-war Audioslavia has continued pre-war Audioslavia's policy of having no official religion, though unlike old Audioslavia there is no catholic majority. Around 9% of current Audioslavia are catholic, with other christian religions, eastern religions such as Islam, Buddhism etc making up less than 1% each. The remaining 90% are apathetic, due to the total lack of prominent places of worship since the war.

Football

Pre-War

Football is by far the nation's most popular sport, being played to a world-class level and giving Audioslavia status as one of the greatest footballing nations of all time, reaching the World Cup twenty-six times in their history and reaching the final four times despite being unlucky enough have never won the tournament itself. The country did, however, win the inaugral U21 World Cup, as well as its own 'Jeremy Jaffacake Jamboree' invitational tournament before World Cup 25. World Cup 29, Audioslavia's final foray into international football before the war, saw the nation reach the final for the fourth and last time, of course without winning.

Post War

It would take until the 37th World Cup tournament, forty years after Audioslavia's last match, for the nation to make its return to the international stage. This time with a strictly amateur team comprised entirely of players from the districts of Cathair, the team is a long way off revisiting the dizzying heights of its glory days, and are not expected to qualify for any World Cup tournaments in the near future.
