Background

The Co-Prosperity Sphere of Auman is a massive, economically powerful nation, renowned for its barren, inhospitable landscape. The nations origins are shrouded in confusion. Some sources(the most reliable third party ones anyhow) claim that Vascilia crater and later Vascilia City was inhabited by the ancient Red Star Mining Corporation. Desperate for workers following a labour strike, the Red Star Corp. hired a batch of fresh, enthusiastic and most importantly non-union workers from the Balkans, though unknown to Red Star at the time they were terrorists fleeing persecution from the Iuthian government. Shortly after being employed by Red Star the terrorists, calling themselves Anti-Funitist's seized control of Vascilia city in a three month long conflict know as the "War of Foundations". Achieving victory with ancient weapons and fanatical zeal the Aumanii quickly went about cementing their power base and expanding their influence through out the southern polar region of Mars.

Building upon their military and economic force respectively the Aumanii managed to force their chief rival, the Norieganian Arms and Food Cartel, into alliance with them. The two nations quickly set their sites upon the young, militaristic, Kingdom of Tannelorn as well as the largely corrupt nation of Turksilvania. Suffice it to say the two nations were brought into the fold quickly and formed the foundation of what was later to become the Vascilian League of Mars. The Vascilian League would go onto to brave many hardships, those of which included Polar war, Plague, Regime Change and Economic recession.

The Nation of Auman has recently proven itself to be a valuable member of the Martian community. Being the second signatory of the Martian Duma as well as one of its key supporters. The nation has lead many peaceful initiatives like the Kajal Mars peace keeping mission, which was personally lead by Overlord Balthizar Marduk I.

Auman is made of several nations which, over a course of many years, have been annexed and occupied. The figures seen below represent the original nation. The information on tax rates and population seen in my Nationstates entry are a compilation of the general average of the states annexed in addition to those provided here. Basically, this is like a factbook for the state of New York in relation to the entire United States, Auman is but one state in a group.

Transnational Issues:

Disputes - international:

A long going dispute with the nation of Tor Yvresse over the territory of Hellespontos has lead to two wars and numerous skirmishes. Tension between the two nations has eased after Auman sold the Hellespontos border to Sunset to prevent invasion, effectively ending all possibility of hostilities.

A border dispute and an, as of yet, unresolved ceasefire between Auman and Aelosia have lead to some unpleasantness. The casualties on both sides are still mounting daily and neither side has even considered negotiations of any kind. Though, some light has been shed on this shady situation when the Aumanii government released a group of Aelosian POW's.

An on-going disagreement between The Atheist Reality and Auman on ownership of Resolute Airbase, Bhaatarahk (Barazun). The disagreement is a result of wording. The Aumanii government leased the land to the Realtanians, when the lease ran out and Aumanii troops returned there was disagreement over property rights. In a gesture of cooperation, the Aumanii government allowed the Realtanians use of the airbase, though they still do not acknowledge their ownership...as it was obviously a lease.

Auman steadfastly opposes the restructuring of the Duma. This has raised many feathers in the international community as, seemingly, these resolutions are necessary. Though, in the eyes of the Aumanii government, the reformation of the Martian Duma is seen as a ploy of Martian Colonial Governments to facilitate their expansion onto the planet through legislation. The government itself believes that this reform will simply make it easier for offworlders to appropriate more power for themselves at the expense of natives.
