Cherbourg is a province on the south coast of St Samuel. The province borders Montbard Province, Baignard Province, De Biville Province and De Vere Province. The provincial capital is Véoncy. The current Lord Protector is Lady Serena Mont-Argyle. It's five largest citie's are Véoncy, Lemuria, Anitobia, Salamasia and San Eugenia.
Cherbourg is known for it's glitz and glamour, with exclusive resorts lining the golden sanded coast line, along with the city of Véoncy, which is renowned for it's luxury.

History
146AD - In 146AD King Eades divides the kingdom of Greater Holdinia between Lord Knights that remained loyal to him during the war. Sir Francois Di Cherbourg is made Lord Knight of Cherbourg.
1748AD - In 1748 Lord Protector Eduardo Della Mintosia granted political asylum on the authority of the Kingdom of St Samuel to over 2,000,000 black ethnic Lyberian's who were under threat of death from there war torn nation. Lord Protector Eduardo Della Mintosia had 17 years earlier married a Lyberian women, Eugenia Nwe Nuananna.
With the arrival of the Lyberian immigrants a new city was constructed and was named San Eugenia after the Lord Protector's wife.

In 1748 over 2,000,000 black ethnic Lyberian's were granted asylum in the Cherbourg province. Recent survey's put the Lyberian population in Cherbourg at around 8,800,000.

Physical geography & Climate
Geography
The inland part of the province is mountainous. The coastal strip is a very fertile plain mainly free of remarkable mountains except those around the Cabo del Marce area and the Niampo area. Typical of this coastal area are wetlands and marshlands such as Miandiera.
There are important coastal dunes in the Salingra area and in the Diaz area, both of them were planted with thousands of trees during the 19th century in order to fix the dunes, thus forming now protected areas of remarkable ecologic value.
Climate
The province has a Mediterranean climate, with hot, dry summers and mild winters. The natural vegetation is Mediterranean forests, woodlands, and shrubs. The coastal lowlands are part of the mixed forests ecoregion, in which forests and woodlands of evergreen sclerophyll oaks predominate, chiefly Holm Oak (Quercus ilex) and Cork Oak (Quercus suber). The mountains are cooler, and home to mixed forests ecoregion, which supports diverse forests of oak, pine, and broadleaf deciduous trees, with vegetation more typical of northern Europe on the slopes of the highest peaks.
Much of the coastal lowlands has been cleared for agriculture, grazing, and logging which has reduced the mountain forests considerably.

San Eugenia was founded in 1748 by Lord Protector Eduardo Della Mintosia. Especially constructed for the arrival of over 2,000,000 Lyberian refugees, escaping persecution from there war torn homeland. The city is now a vibrant hub of Lyberian centered culture.

Economy
Cherbourg is one of the engines of the global economy with a GDP of $400 billion and a per capita GDP of $49,216. The region is one of the richest in St Samuel, with a per capita gross domestic product that is 50 percent higher than the rest of St Samuel. Many foreign and national companies have their headquarters in Véoncy. Manufactures include iron and steel, cars, mechanics components, chemical products, textiles, furnitures, leather, shoes and many others.
The city of Mera is well-known for the production of weapons and the city of Bindorell for silk and lace. The productivity of agriculture is enhanced by a well-developed use of fertilizers and the traditional abundance of water, boosted since the Middle Ages by the construction of a wide net of irrigation systems. Lower plains are characterized by fodder crops, which are mowed up to eight times a years, cereals (rice, wheat and maize) and sugarbeet. Productions of the higher plains include cereals, vegetables, fruit trees and mulberries. The higher areas produce fruit, vines, olives. Cattle, pigs and sheep are raised widely in the province.

Port Coté d'Ilmar is a Royal St Samuel Naval base. The base is famous for it's Royal St Samuel Navy Marine Mammal Program, which trains Bottlenose Dolphins as military dolphins for wartime tasks such as locating sea mines or detecting and marking enemy divers.

Sport
As with all provinces in St Samuel the most popular sport is football. Vollyball, motor racing, lacrosse, polo, horse racing and other equestrian sports all command big following in the region.
The biggest football club in Cherbourg is Véoncy Bay Football Club, who recently won promotion to the King's Division. Also of note is the multi-billionaire, Sir Jack Thornton, from Bazalonia, who bought Véoncy Bay Football Club at the end of the 2007 season. Thornton has promised big thing's at the club, including the construction of a new 60,000 all-seater state of the art stadium and a huge transfer budget for manager Lorenzo Milliano.
