Council of Mayors
The Council of Mayors is the executive branch and head of state of the Confederated City States of Mikitivity. The Council is composed of one appointed representative, known as a Council Member, from each of the cantons in Mikitivity. Council Members are appointed by the mayors of all the cities in each canton in a process called a Canton Congress. Each canton has a slightly different proceedure for appointing, with some of the appointments being actually being decided by direct elections. Since the Council Members are appointed, they do not represent any given political party.
The Council Members also appoint many of the national Office heads and deputies. Since the Council Members are not affliated with any political party, many government appointees serve long terms.
The Council Members meet in the Chamber of Mayors in Miervatia City as needed. When not in session, the Council Members often stay in Miervatia City to serve as a representative of their cantons in the national government.
