Motto Taking Niploma Further

The Democratic Party (registered name: Democratic Party of Niploma casual referance: Democrats) is the most capitalistic of all political parties in Niploma. It is neoliberal, internationalist and socially centrist.

Ideology

The Democrats believe that whatever the business or institution the 'private sector will save it'. Therefore, the party is pro-privatisation. Yet, some interior Democrats have said they are misinterpreted on the quote and defend the party's economic beliefs explaining that several institutions would remain public owned - such as the Police and Healthcare System.

The Democrats believe in further economic freedoms - such as severe tax breaks. The party would make severe cuts to several Government sectors by selling off many sectors to the private industry. The Democrats say this will 'enhance and further Niploma's economic and social interests'. The money would, controversially, not be returned in tax benefits or cuts but instead be put towards the commerce sector. Democrats defend this saying that citizens would have their money returned through a strong economy via wages. Interestingly the Democrats promise to 'never' cut Social Welfare or Equality spending and may even increase it.

As a liberal party the Democrats value personal freedoms. They oppose the interuption of private lifes (especially through the police). Indeed, together with their support for the Social and Equality departments, the Democrats have supported further political freedoms - such as greatder independence in Bhumerick and the decentralization of authority. Democrats recently started two strong campaigns, 'Democracy in Bhumerick' and 'End Homophobia in Niploma'.

The Democrats support Niploma's creation of a nuclear 'deterrant' under the terms that it would never be used in agression. The party strongly favours the UN and the greater region. Controversially the party declared it will always support the use of international forces if used to defend democracy and peace.

Elections

The Democrats have only entered one election - the local elections in Rhorn where the coupled with a traditional and populist party. Although Rhorn is a comfortable economic-liberal city the Democrats still won a sizeable majority.

In the upcoming election the party is currently aiming to win at least three constituencies along with up to thirty popular seats. Howard Dean, the party's Leader, declared that 'a sizeable number of seats would put us in a comfortable area to negotiate a coalition'.

After the election a Coalition Government is likely to be formed and the Democrats are open to the Social-Democratic Party of Niploma the Green Party of Niploma and, especially, the Libertarian Reform Party - of which they have a close relationship.

Rhorn

The party quickly developed strong support in Rhorn and controls their Local Authority. The Democrats have steadfast become popular with Niplomians who supported the Grand Conservatives. Therefore the Democrats have been seen as the new Conservative party. To counter this Dean has declared that he disagrees with Niploma First principles although, 'supports the traditional values of GCP ex-members and voters'.
