Nation Entry

The Divine Prussian Empire of Derscon is a massive, safe nation, notable for its compulsory military service. Its hard-nosed, hard-working, intelligent population of 4.56 billion hold their civil and political rights very dear, although the wealthy and those in business tend to be viewed with suspicion.

It is difficult to tell where the omnipresent government stops and the rest of society begins, but it devotes most of its attentions to Defence, with areas such as Social Equality and Social Welfare receiving almost no funds by comparison. Citizens pay a flat income tax of 12%. A powerhouse of a private sector is led by the Automobile Manufacturing, Uranium Mining, and Beef-Based Agriculture industries.

A weakened police force struggles to maintain law and order, mobile phone masts are being erected all over the country, the government has begun breaking all large businesses into thousands of mom-and-pop general stores, and citizens are regularly found digging for treasure in their gardens. Crime -- especially youth-related -- is totally unknown, thanks to the all-pervasive police force and progressive social policies in education and welfare. Derscon's national animal is the Prussian Eagle, which teeters on the brink of extinction due to widespread deforestation, and its currency is the Reichsmark.

History

Government

The Government is entirely rested in the Crown, granted by Divine Right by the Grace of God. It is currently occupied by the Andropov House. After the death of Rekjyavich Ivan Andropov III, and the ascention of Alexei to the throne, the Rekjyavich and Andropov Houses split. The old House of Romanov was exiled to Scodson in the Second Catholic War.

For almost three thousand years, the government of Derscon has been an absolute monarchy. Before the monarchy, the Dersconi Republic governed the vast territories, but its ineptness in governing and failure in the Sith Wars allowe dGeneral Ivan Andropov the Great to rally the people after the Sith Wars and overthrow the Republic. However, during the reign of Rekjyavich Ivan Andropov III, a Reichskongress was established, but when the current Czar took the throne, it was immediately dissolved.

The Government has gone through many changes through civil wars and family disputes, the most famous being the Sith Wars and the Catholic Wars. The Sith Wars were, in a nutshell, the wars in which Derscon was born. The Sith invasion of Derscon was a rally point in which General Ivan Andropov the Great destroyed the Sith armies and eventually overthrew the Republic that governed the land, and established the monarchy almost three thousand years ago.

The Catholic Wars, again, in a nutshell, were the wars fought between the Rekjyavich and Andropov House and the current house in power, the Romanovs. The result was the exile of the Romanov House and the establishment of the Protestant Monarchy.

Economy

The Economy usually consisted of Arms Manufacturing in one form or another as a major industry, as Derscon has always been a military nation, seen by the fact it is run by a giant military base.

The nation of Derscon is entirely self-sufficient, relying on no one to survive. Luxury items are imported, such as foregin cars, etc, but high tarrifs are placed on them to level the playing field, or in some cases, insure people buy Dersconi goods. The Greater Prussian Emprie maintains a strong Free Market Policy within itself, though, in which all Greater Prussian States must have a Free Trade system amongst the other Greater Prussian States.

The economy was virtually non-existant due to the multiple civil wars for many years until the Rekjyavich House finally overthrew the Romanovs. Since then, the Economy continued to boom.

Although it has had many slumps, no real depression ever came across Derscon. The Average economy was "Thriving" during its early stages, but it slumped to "Very Good" for awhile during the Hutu Wars. Upon those ending, the economy rose to "Frightening" and stayed there ever since.

Diplomatic relations with Derscon outside the Greater Prussian Empire are minimal to virtually non-existant. However, there are a few that manage to make it on the "allies" list. Also, there is no nation that Derscon is currently in hostile relations with.
