Dominator Class Dreadnought

Massive Super-Dreadnoughts Battleship used by Kaukolastan as a command vessel and Flag Ship. Designed on a Trimaran hull, the central hull is approximately 400 meters long, and the outriding hulls are about 150 meters long. The main body of the ship sweeps over these three hulls to give it the shape of a manta-ray. The ship width is, at rear (widest point of slope), 450 meters. The ship is propelled by massive screws, and powered by sixteen pebble bed reactors (ten center hull, three in each outriding hull), which vent under the "arches" formed by the hulls. A massive superstructure emerges in the centerline of the vessel. Due to the three hulls, however, the draft is not as deep as a carrier, and the platform is remarkably stable.

The Dominator Class has four triple batteries of 6cm Naval Rail Guns located fore, another four batteries aft, and a triple battery alongside port and starboad wings, for a total of thirty 6cm Rail Guns, with the ability to fire eighteen guns forward or backward, or twenty one guns broadside. In addition to the primary 6cm armaments, the Dominator mounts a secondary armament of ten dual occluded batteries of 3cm Naval Rail Guns, located on the sweep of the ship and in recessed turrets, for a total of twenty 3cm Rail Guns, of which five to seven can be targetted on the same target.

The Dreadnought also mounts a tertiary armament of Vengeance HyStrike Missiles, located in a twenty-five dual-tube vertical launch surfaced along the wings. Defensive weapons include sixteen MTHELS projectors, four Millenium Gun batteries, twelve SAG NMG remote guns along the hull, with drop out boxes to target under the "arches" between hulls, and six SeaRAMS boxes on section tracks. Below the sealine, four Hydrashock Launchers serve as anti-submarine and especially for Supercavitating Torpedo defense.

All of the offensive and defensive systems of the Dominator are linked to the center of the entire ship, and of the Battlegroup, the ARES Core in the center of the ship. This sub-processor for the ARES AI Construct allows ARES to completely coordinate all activity in the vessel, linking the entire fire system into one singular function. In addition, the loading, cooling, and power systems are all also run through the ARES Core, so the ship can level massive, concentrated, and coordinated firepower. Even deprived of most of the crew, the Dominator can pretty much fight itself, albeit with a lack of damage control.

Not only does the BattleNet coordinate the activities of the ship, but extends through the entire Battlegroup assigned to each Dominator, allowing the entire fleet to coordinate to an impressive extent, and for vast leaps of tactical co-reliance and lack of blue on blue.

The Dominator Class has six VTOL pads, located aft of the observation flag bridge. Two of the landing pads are larger, designed to hold the V-30 transports, while the other four are designed to hold G-7 Wyverns, armed to supplement the anti-shipping and anti-sub warfare capabilities of the Dreadnought.

Another major strength of the Dominator is its stealth capabilities. It would seem dis-intuitive for such a massive vessel to be stealthy, but the Dominator possesses some ingenious systems. First, it possesses Active Sonar Cancellation, which uses sonic sensors to register and feedback reversed waves of they detected sounds, negating all sound and creating a "dead zone" on sonar. Second, it vents its heat under the arches, leaving little IR signature over the surface. Third, it utilizes the Athena System, designed by New Empire, which, upon recieving a radar pulse, refracts the waves back to give a false return. Finally, the Dominator is protected by a toggle-activated, center-superstructure Thermo-Optic Field, which uses the magnetic field to shift the visual and IR spectrums into the UV band, at great cost of power. The entire ship is EMP shielded.

The crew of a Dominator runs at 3,125 full, or 1,054 skeleton. The maximum speed is 27 knots.

Sub-Systems

Millenium Gun

The Millennium Gun, a naval deck weapon system, delivers inner-layer defense against sea-skimming antiship missiles, antiradiation missiles, and aircraft. It is also effective against fast-attack surface craft and near-shore targets during operations in littoral and riverine waters. Creating a "wall of lead," the Millennium Gun fires 35-mm ammunition, including the advanced Ahead round, at 1,000 rounds per minute. Each Ahead round disperses 152 metal subprojectiles. Forming a cone-shaped pattern, the subprojectiles destroy a target's control surfaces, seeker and other vital equipment components as a target moves through the wall of lead. The gun's muzzle brake programs each Ahead round as it exits the barrel, setting distance and subprojectile dispersal pattern.

MTHELS

The Introduction of the MTHELS (Mobile, High Energy Laser System). MTHELS makes a sharp break with the past. Instead of using highly reactive chemicals to create a laser beam inside a plume of hot gas, MTHELS performs its magic inside a special type of glass. Its operating principle is the same as that of all solid-state lasers, including those in CD drives and DVD players. Basically, light from a beefed-up flashbulb sends a stream of photons into nine neodymium-doped glass discs. Inside the discs, the light, which can be thought of as a rabble of raw recruits, becomes organized into a crack drill team--what physicists call a beam of coherent, monochromatic light. Gaining strength as more light is pumped in, the colorless laser beam bursts out one side of the crystal with enough power to heat steel at 200 yards. Paired with BattleNet, this will allow for defense, even against shells.

SeaRAM

SeaRAM Sytems installed. The SeaRAM combines and upgrades elements of two Navy weapons systems. It uses sensors of a Phalanx Gatling gun system and elements of a RAM (rolling airframe missile) system that can fire 11 guided missiles in rapid order. Successrate again test missiles showed high success rates, even on sea skimming, hypersonic missiles.

Vengeance HyStrike Missile

Conversion to HyStrike Missiles instead of Tomahawks or CALCMs. A unique aspect of this Navy program is that the goal is a single hypersonic strike weapon that will be launchable from air, surface and subsurface platforms. This is a first-time collaboration between these three communities to develop a common weapon system for time-critical and deeply buried targets. It is intended to produce increased operations effectiveness as well as life-cycle cost saving.

The surface-launched system can hit underground targets to a depth of 12 meters after flying at beyond Mach 4. The wingless missile changes direction in flight by using a bending body joint. The HyStrike comprises a fin-less, bending body airframe, fixed geometry annular inlet, and a slip-out booster/ramjet engine. It delivers a 1000-pound payload to a range exceeding 700 nautical miles at a speed of Mach 4.0.

The weapon's greatly decreased time to target gives the command, control, communications, computers and intelligence (C4I) components more time to search for and identify time-critical threats. Powerful kinetic penetrators defeat the enemy's tactic of burrowing deeper or building stronger bunkers. And the ability to take out threat weapons before they are launched increases Kaukolastani and allied survivability, efficiency, cost effectiveness.

6cm Rail

Power will be supplied by diverting power from auxilliary reactors. Muzzle velocity is supposed to exceed 8,600fps, with impact velocities of over 5,000fps. Range is three hundred miles.

Guns are modified versions of the MADAE rail system. Ammunition capacity should be trippled by removal of shells for Mag-sabot DU rods.

Length of guns: 8m Bore: 6cm Recharge: 45sec

Cooling on both systems will be provided by liquid nitrogen mist gradually sprayed upon rail system in aftermath of firing. The cooling period is the only delay in firing.

3cm Rail

Power will be supplied by diverting power from auxilliary reactors. Muzzle velocity is supposed to exceed 8,600fps, with impact velocities of over 5,000fps. Range is one hundred miles.

Guns are modified versions of the MADAE rail system. Ammunition capacity should be trippled by removal of shells for Mag-sabot DU rods.

Length of guns: 6m Bore: 3cm Recharge: 30sec

Cooling on both systems will be provided by liquid nitrogen mist gradually sprayed upon rail system in aftermath of firing. The cooling period is the only delay in firing.
