Domnonia, Republic of
The Republic of Domnonia is a small, environmentally stunning nation, renowned for its burgeoning Owl population. Its hard-nosed, intelligent population of 7 million love a good election, and the government gives them plenty of them. Universities tend to be full of students debating the merits of various civil and political rights, while businesses are tightly regulated and the wealthy viewed with suspicion.
The enormous, socially-minded government juggles the competing demands of Education, Law & Order, and Social Welfare. The average income tax rate is 36%, but much higher for the wealthy. A substantial private sector is led by the Trout Farming industry, followed by Door-to-door Insurance Sales and Book Publishing.
Voting is compulsory, military funding has been stripped back, citizens select which government department gets their income tax Domis each year, and organ donation rates have hit a new low. Crime is well under control, thanks to the all-pervasive police force and progressive social policies in education and welfare. Domnonia's national animal is the Owl, which frolics freely in the nation's many lush forests, and its currency is the Domi.

The Domnonia of today is the result of many great debates over how to govern a country, especially one as diverse as Domnonia. Many active citizens who challenged the status quo and demanded a model to reflect our realities are listed among Domnonia's greatest heroes. This is indeed a great tradition, and learning about the people and events that have shaped and created our current system of government is one of the best ways to learn about what it means to be an informed and responsible citizen.
This is Parliament. Inside these walls and chambers you will see a lot of activity. This is where the people who represent the citizens of Domnonia come together to debate, discuss, reflect, and make decisions about how our country’s policies, laws and finances work to reflect the public will and the public interest.
Ensuring that Domnonian's know how Parliament works is the key to making it work. As a democracy, Domnonia thrives when its citizens are involved and informed.
The Domnonian Parliament is made up of 31 Seats, representing 31 Counties and City-Districts in 4 Provinces. Each seat represents thousands of voices in Parliament.
The Federal Government is currently lead by Prime Minister Taylor Carlson and the Social Liberal Fiscal Conservative Party of Domnonia(18 Seats). The Opposition Government is currently headed by MP Frederick Dalhousie of the Domini Peoples Party(7 Seats). Other Members of Parliament include the Democratic Party(2 Seats), the Student Party(1 Seat), and 3 Independant Seats.
