The Ducal Air Force (DAF) is the aerospac branch of the Vassfforcian armed forces. Formerly part of the Ducal Army, the DAF was formed as a separate branch of the military with Reform of 52. The DAF has over 7’000 aircraft in service and about 70’000 personnel on active duty, 230’000 in the Ready Reserve and 700’000 auxiliarists.
According to the Reform the Air Force, "In general the Ducal Air Force shall include aviation forces both combat and service not otherwise assigned. It shall be organized, trained, and equipped primarily for prompt and sustained offensive and defensive air operations. The Air Force shall be responsible for the preparation of the air forces necessary for the effective prosecution of war except as otherwise assigned and, in accordance with integrated joint mobilization plans, for the expansion of the peacetime components of the Air Force to meet the needs of war."
The stated mission of the DAF today is to "project the Vassfforcian power around the region and the world in order to protect our sovereign interests of defense […] to fly and fight in Air, Space, and Cyberspace".
Not all of the Vassfforcian military combat aircraft are operated by the DAF. The Ducal Army operates its own helicopters, mostly for support of ground combatants. The Amada de Ultramar is responsible for the aircraft operating on its aircraft carriers and Naval air stations, and the Marine Infantry operates its own combat and transport aircraft. The Coast Guard also maintains transport and search-and-rescue aircraft, which may be used in a combat and law enforcement role. All branches of the Ducal Armed Forces operate helicopters.

Structure
Officially, a member of the DAF is called either piloto (Spanish for pilot) or auxiliary.
Ducal Army is made up of two components: the Ready Reserve; and the Auxiliaries. The Ready Reserve is composed by soldiers ready to enter in combat in any moment and the Auxiliaries are part-time soldiers who train for two months a year and once a week.
The Ducal Army is led by a military Head Chief of the Army (the Almirante del Cielo), who reports to the Minister of War (for now it is the Generalísimo Don Bernardo Reyes). The Almirante del Cielo is a member of the High Command, the top ranking military commanders from each service who advise the Grand Duke on military and disaster matters.
Operationally, though, control of the DAF in wartime goes from the Grand Duke of the Most Serene Republic of Vassfforcia to the Concejo de Guerra, who has control of all armed forces units in their geographic area of responsibility.
There are four geographical commands:
- The Ready Reserve of the North headquartered at the Septéntrion Military Base, Septéntrion.
- The Ready Reserve of the East headquartered at Filibustenia, Ibportia
- The Ready Reserve of the South headquartered at Édhardor Air Base, Hilvenídica
- The Ready Reserve of the West headquartered at Cwíning’chwan Air Base, Dohendor
And one secondary base at the Base Militar Núm. I, Umperia
