Equilism was founded January 13, 2004 by Equility after he found a link to NationStates in a defunct Dutch Blog. He created his nation and, after a brief stop in 10000 Islands, he created Equilism.

During the next two weeks, Equility invited some friends and recruited resulting in a population of over 20. Having always had a firm defender stance, and now a population large enough, Equilism applied for, and was accepted into, the Allied Liberation League (ALL) and the Alliance Defense Network (ADN).

It was not long after that, that the region participated in its very first military action on February 5, liberating Eastern Aldershot from the Invaders Empire.

In the early days of the region, the basis of the governmental structure was laid with the writing of the first version of the Constitution, the creation of departments and the appointing of ministers like Rhonanvin, Tomika and Daradah.

Shortly after its creation, some of the core members of Equilism that are still there now, joined; including Westwind, Ostendt, Tse Moana and Neboe.

In the next few months, numbers and activity levels rose continuously and the arrival of other still remaining members like Nooterland, Chaucerin, Koona, Adyndril, Zapvilla, Grothistan, Bismarcia and Neo-Conservatism was seen.

During all that, Equilism remained a loyal defender region and became one of the important defense armies in NationStates.

Besides the E-Army, Equilism has a hard working internal government that deals with all kinds of stuff and never ceases to move forward. The constitution has been amended a handful of times and other laws have been added making the daily governing of the region a generally smooth running affair with solid groundrules to fall back on.

Internal stability has always been very good with all members being respectful towards each other while not afraid to give their opinions when asked; or not asked.

Over time, the number of nations in Equilism grew, being stable around 200 for a long time. It culminated in the 250th member in July 2005. Unfortunately, after that, it dropped again and remained steady at around 200 for a while and then dropped some more. In March of 2006, the recruiting effort was picked up again making Equilism's population rise again to be around 190.
