The Founder of a region is the nation that created the region. The founder is listed on the region's page, and can access its Regional Controls. This includes the ability to alter the World Factbook entry of the region, set a password, eject nations, and ban/unban nations. The founder may also decide if the region's delegate may have access to the Regional Controls.

The founder is the only member of the region with permission to clear spam posts from the Civil Headquarters board. This priviledge may not be passed to the Delegate, regardless of circumstances.

Some regions including the 7 game-created regions, France, and Nationstates, along with many others do not have a founder and thus all duties are passed on to the regional delegate.
