The Freethinker Martian Territories is the name given to the Freethinker-controlled territory in the northern Martian ocean that forms a semi-autonomous province within the Freethinker Commonwealth. The colony represents the first steps taken towards becoming a true interstellar nation by the Commonwealth, and there has been a significant effort by the Freethinker Government to make it a success. The need to provide adequate security and stability for the new territory was one of the principal reasons for the Commonwealth joining the Concordat.
The colony has had a relatively peaceful existence, but the mostly aquatic nature of the territory has significantly limited further expansion, with new surface area being created only slowly by a process of enhanced ocean freezing and large scale pykrete construction. The FMT now has a population of over 300,000, and most (80%) of these live in the only substantial settlement and the colony's capital, White Dawn City.
The FMT is also the organisational body to which the Freethinker sector of the former Divine (now Borealis) City was assigned. The body would also be the primary administration of any future expansion efforts upon the planet.

Geography
- Climate & Terrain: The Freethinker Martian Territories are located in the Northern ocean of Mars, with almost all of the territory situated in deep ocean waters, with only a few icy atolls avaliable for significant settlement. Recent efforts have begun to reclaim some land from the ocean, and further efforts are considered vital to establishing a fully functional colony in the region.
- Enviromental Hazards: Snow storms and blizzards, large ice flows, extremely low temperatures.
- Enviromental Issues: Minor concern for pollution from neighbouring territories and new colonisation growth.
Demographics
Government
As an autonomous territory of the Freethinker Commonwealth, the FMT maintains control over it's domestic affairs over all Freethinker Martian possessions.
Economy
The official currency in use is the standard Freethinker Mintel. Unlike the other autonomous province of Fargon, the territory does not print its own notes, instead using the designs of the Freethinker Mainland banks.
The colony is heavily subsidised, the basic infrastructure needs alone consuming most of the domestically generated tax revenues. Freethinker military bases, limited mineral extraction and operations as a trade freeport accounts for most substantial revenue gains. The limited amount of land and raw materials avaliable have limited economic growth, as has the limited population and the market it provides.
