Gothic Underground, or GU, is a medium-sized region. The number of nations is usually anywhere between 30 and 50. In 2005, it rose from the ashes of GothicUnderground. GU is an Invader region and is mainly inhabited by evil dictatorships.

Army

The Gothic Underground Army was founded by Lady Kitty in January 2005. The first months were an intense learning process - it was during this time that the GU Army refined and eventually perfected it's invading techniques. However, this didn't prevent the Army from collapsing after a couple of months, after a large share of soldiers had left. The GUA was revived in May 2005. Though only a small number of the old soldiers were left, it continued to grow. It is not great in size but, in the words of Lady Kitty, "Stealth is more important than numbers". It is estimated that the GUA has, in total, invaded at least 30 regions (estimate made in April 2006). Most of these invasions have been successful. Exact numbers are unknown, as nobody has kept track. The GUA has so far survived espionage, a looming war, streaks of continued bad luck, an invasion of GU itself during the founder's absence and sudden drops in the number of soldiers.

The GUA has the following ranks, in ascending order:

  • Initiate
  • Minion
  • Marauder
  • Slayer
  • Baron
  • Overlord
  • Emperor
  • Dark God

Forum

GU shares a forum with The YoungWorld. The two regions get along surprisingly well, given that GU is an Invader region and TYW is a Defender region. The content of the Forum consistes mainly of roleplaying, random humour and also contains some serious discussions. Notable are the many features of the forum. It has, among others:

  • A monetary system
  • A Shoutbox (for when the normal sections aren't random enough)
  • Courts
  • A pet store
  • A weapon store (for roleplaying)
  • A lottery
  • A bookmaker
  • Flash games
  • A casino
  • A stock exchange
  • Sudoku
  • Two templates - one dark (popular with GU-members) and one light (popular with TYW-members)

These features often seem overwhelming for newbies. However, the stickies explain nearly all, and the rest can be answered in the special technical section on the forum. The forum is called the Brave New World Forum. Both armies have their headquarters on this forum.
