First DU War

The First DU War (sometimes called the Great DU War), was a major military conflict spanning almost the entire Democratic Union that was fought in March 2006.

Aggressive actions

The beginning of the war was sparked by The Glorious Empire, and its policy of using brute force to coerce nearby nations to its will, including the routine bombing of terrorist bases on its borders, in which many non-combatants were killed. This prompted action by the UN, who prepared to pass a resolution to remove the goverment of the Glorious Empire.

Regional United Nations Response

Following these hostilities, a Regional United Nation's Proposition was put forward by the Tetris L-Shaped Block government. The proposition called for condemnation of The Glorious Empire's actions, and for the declaration of a just war with the Glorious Empire, to be undertaken by all willing nations. The Security Council voted 3-1 in favour, with Naviblah being the only dissenter. Prior to the proposition, The Glorious Empire pulled out of the RUN, and as such was not granted a vote on the proposition. Ironicaly, had TGE stayed in the RUN and voted, the Proposition would have failed, having only gaining 60% of the required 66% needed to pass.

Abascalanian Attack on Palixia

Early into the war, Abascalania allied itself with TGE, and in an attempt to flex millitary might, launched an attack on Palixia. Following the attack, TGE cut off all ties to Abascalania, and stopped supporting the war machine. After several failed battles, the Abascalanian government gave an official apology, and held "Direct Dictator Elections" to elected a new dictator to lead the nation. Once the new leader was sworn in, the country declared war on TGE.

Glorious Empire Invasion of Solary

The Glorious Empire began its attack on Solray with Operation Lightning. Battles between the two nations took place mostly on land plot M. Warplanes belonging to TGE initiated the attack by flying to Solray's territory in plot C, but were countered by Solray planes in plot M. Socialist Freemen, a neutral country, decided to let Solray's military pass through, as the two countries had very good relations, and after a long stalemate, TGE troops were recalled to the border.

Operation Special K

During TGEs attempted invasion of Solray, Naviblah took advantage and launched an invasion of the land in map plot K. TGE was originally to aid in the attack, but was sidetracked by its ongoing war with Solray. Naviblah took the land and carried out a genocide of the natives.

Palixian decleration of war

Following Abascalania's defeat, the Palixian government declared war on The Glorious Empire. The Palixian government blamed TGE for forcing Abascalania to attack, and joined the Regional United Nations fight against The Glorious Empire.

Compopund-Complex Neutrality

Early into the war, "Big Bad", Dictator of Compopund-Complex declared to the world that his nation was officially neutral. Sticking to this policy, he refused to allow LLF forces to pass through the country in order to fight The Glorious Empire. However, due to TGE financial aid, he did allow Naviblahian, Abascalanian, and TGEian forces passage. After a meeting took place between the leaders of TGE and CC, the Tetris L-Shaped Block government accused CC of being a silent ally and puppet of TGE. TLSB deployed its military along the CC-TLSB Border and threataned an invasion. After hostilities grew out of proportion, Big Bad had all outside military forces expelled from the nation, signifying his siding with the RUN Against TGE.

As the war raged on with no victory in sight for The Glorious Empire, the government decided to "sue for peace". The Kaiser of the Glorious Empire abdicated and a Republic was set up. In addition, the Glorious Empire was punished by the Regional United Nations. The northern territory of TGE was to be split into five mandates, administered by the nations who actively fought against TGE. Socialist Freemen and Philanchez, though aiding in the war, did not actively help the war effort, and thus were not given mandates. In addition, the RUN proposal included that The Glorious Empire was never allowed to place military forces in another country, nor was its military to exceed 2.5% of its population. A second proposition was later passed that rewarded Abascalania and Compopuned-Complex for keeping the anti-TGE proposition in effect by giving them temporary seats on the Security Council.

Due to the restrictions of the RUN on the five mandates, the Tetris L-Shaped Block put forward the idea of uniting the mandates into one country. Thus, The Glorious Federal Republic was created. They had a central legislature, but autonomus governments. At its height, the TGFR contained all five mandates.

Failure of the RUN

The Regional United Nations restrictions on The Glorious Empire would prove to be a failure. Though Naviblah would colapse, TGE would become a hostile power once again, causing the Second DU War.
