Gubask (Ozansek: Guba Sek = the government of logic) is the nation of logically thinking people.

Goverment
Gubask is not a democracy. It is government by the Council of Sages. Each member of the council is the President of a region.
The regions do not have semi-autonomy as states/provinces in federalistic nations. The regions are defined exclusively by their climate and geography, not culturally or historically.
Regions are governed by Ministers. Each minister is responsible for one department, for example agriculture or infrastructure. The President is the minister who represents the region in the Council of Sages.
Ministers are not elected democratically. When a minister resigns or dies, their deputy becomes the new minister. Within one year, any citizen can apply to become the new deputy. The new minister decides who will become their deputy.
Cities, towns, and villages are governed by Mayors. The mayors are chosen in the same way as the ministers: by their predecessors.
History
Historians distinguish two periods: The period of zegad (ignorance), and the period of sekat (logic). The legendary period of zeg was a time of anarchy and chaos. Little facts are known from that time.
Calendar
The people in Gubask have a straightforward, but not really simple calendar system:
- 1 day part = 1/100 of a day (14 minutes 24 seconds)
- 1 day = 10 day parts
- 1 month = 29 days and 53 day parts (a synodic month)
- 1 year = 12 months, 10 days and 89 day parts (a siderial year)
That was the straightforward bit. Now it's getting complicated:
27 November 2006 is the 8th day of the 2nd waxing moon in the 2527th winter semester of the period of zeg (8/2+/2527-)
In other words: There have been 2526 summer and 2526 winter semesters since the beginning of the period of zeg. Since the beginning of the current winter semester (23 September), there have been 2 waning moons and 1 full waxing moon. And since the beginning of the current moon phase, there have been 7 full days.
But that's not all. The same day can belong to two different moon phases. The same moon phase can belong to two different semesters.
A day starts when it is noon (sic!) in Badiguba, the national capital. Other cities might have other time zones, but that doesn't matter.
Drug Policy
Drugs are legal in Gubask. But it is illegal to sell—or otherwise give—them to minors. This includes tobacco and alcohol. Advertising drugs is prohibited, too.
If you commit a crime or accident under the influence of drugs (including alcohol), you are treated like a criminal. You can go to jail for murder if you cause a lethal accident while driving drunk.
Most health insurances pay nothing for the damage caused to you by drugs. If you suffer from passive smoking, you can sue the smoker for assault and have them pay the damages.
