Agriculture
Hotdian agriculture is intensive, highly mechanised, and efficient using just 2.27% of its population whilst providing over 100% of Hotdian food needs, however foreign crops are often imported, whilst excess crops are exported throughout the world. More than half of all farming in HD2 is now thought to be organic, primarily due to increased demand after scientific studies conducted by top universities showed health benefits from organic foods, particularly in young children who cannot tolerate toxins within food. Environmental impact by the agriculture sector is therefore much lower than that of other nations, its estimated that organic farms use 50% less expenditure on fertilizer and energy, although increased labour time is needed to produce these crops. Most non-organic food goes towards feeding animals from the large cereals production, and others are exported, meaning the majority of the population eat organic food, leading to the organic food production to rise yearly.
