Jamie Smith was a football (soccer) player for the Weegie national football team and the Weegie club side Mackintosh Thistle Celtic. He is revered by Weegie fans as he was part of the World Cup X Weegie squad, the only Weegie national side ever to qualify for a World Cup until the surprising success of the World Cup XXIII side, who were widely regarded in the press as one of the most mediocre sides sent by the Weegies to a World Cup, who, ironically, were managed by Jamie Smith. He was recently inducted into the World Cup Hall of Fame.
Career
Jamie Smith played 282 games for Mackintosh Thistle Celtic, scoring 167 goals in total, making him the highest scoring player for Mackintosh Thistle Celtic of all time. He also appeared 34 times for his country, scoring a total of 18 times.
After football
Jamie Smith retired from international football after the relative sucess of World Cup X, and retired from football totally two years later. He went on to coach players at Mackintosh Thistle Celtic, before taking the helm of the club as manager. Seven years later, after a fairly successful stint, he retired. He became caretaker manager of the Weegie national football team during World Cup XVII, which again failed to qualify, but reprised his role as caretaker manager during World Cup XXIII, where they qualified for the finals. He continues to write occassional articles for the Weegie Star, especially on the World Cup and international football. He has been chosen as the manager of the Milchama national football team for World Cup XXVI.
As the manager of Milchama, Smith has led the Warriors to two World Cup final stages and has become a cult hero as the savior of the national football team. His inspired managing led Milchama to the second round in World Cup 28 despite being in a group with two teams in the top 10 in ranks. He has also led Milchama to the Cup of Harmony championship for World Cup 29 as well as two more World Cup final appearances in World Cups 30 and 31. This includes a quarterfinals appearance in World Cup 31. Furthermore he led Milchama on a near unprecendented 29 game unbeaten run in KPB counting competition, including 26 victories.
