Shaken as well by the attack on his father's life, the crown prince rode out on his horse, gathered a small militia and stormed known Nihilist meetinghouses. Before Sven VII was shot, the price ordered the massacre of 683 people who were suspected as Nihilists. After ascencion, he held an Iron grip over the country, terrorizing it with random police raids and mass burning of literature and music. In 1900, he ordered the Duma to dissolve and never regroup until he was dead. In protest, several representatives got together and blockaded the Duma building. Sven VIII ordered those who were in the building to be shot repeatedly. Before he abolished the court system, the Court of the Land managed to get to him first. He was impeached with treason to the Crown and orded to be executed on December 13, 1901.

After the Overthrow
