The Free Republic of Kokomy

is a Socialist Republic in Central Europe, New Paladinia.

Politics and Government

Current leader is Chairperson Rosa, of the Social Democratic Party of Kokomy.

The Chairperson is Head of State but holds little power. Kokomy is famously proud of not being an "elected dictatorship." Direct democracy makes laws and regulates them through local councils, which are verified by the Kokomian Congress of Unions and Kokomian Parliament.

History of Kokomy

Imperial Era...

Kokomy was an autocratic state ruled by a hereditary monarchy until 1919. The first King of Kokomy was Nedkazhim I of Kokomy who unified the country (previously several kingdoms) in 106AD, thus founding the Zhim dynasty which ruled the Empire until 1604.

In 1604 a revolt broke out in the capital, Koko, caused by food shortages and a failing war against neighbouring states. The last of the Zhim kings, King Aservijk, was murdered with his family by nobles. A new king was selected by the nobility; King Sergei I, the first of the Masstash dynasty which ruled Kokomy until 1919.

Revolution and Civil War Era...

In 1919 a revolution began in Koko, again caused by food shortages and this time a proposed war against a neighbouring state. The revolt overthrew King Alexei II and arrested him. A Peoples Government was established and formed a Republic under Revolutionary Leader Fifi Schnelle. The elderly Alexei II died under house arrest in 1921, which provided the spark for a Monarchist uprising and the two-year First Kokomian Civil War. Alexei II's son, Sergei IV proclaimed himself King of Kokomy and led the monarchist side until its defeat in 1923 when he and his family fled into exile.

Sergei IV's daughter Alexandra I claimed the title of 'Queen' in 1939 from exile. After Schnelle's death in 1947's Alexandra came back to Kokomy, thus sparking the Second Kokomian Civil War. The Republicans fought against the Monarchists until 1951 when Alexandra fled back into exile, faced with defeat.

Modern Era...

Nikolai Bund was President of the Second Republic of Kokomyfrom 1951 until 1960, and wrote the Kokomian Constitution and established the Kokomian Parliament. He was followed by Tomas Daromo, who was President until his assassination in 1974. When moderate President Dr. Frederick Eirenstein came to power in 1974 he allowed Alexandra to return to the country.

Eirenstein retired in 1996 and was replaced by Ani Itsyn who strengthened the Congress of Unions over parliament. Persephone Rosa became President in 2005.

In Sept. 2005 Alexandra, supported by her cousin Csar Kari I of Rulgaria attacked Kokomy and occupied Eastern Kokomy. In response Alexandra's son Crown Prince Nicholas was murdered by his guards in prison in Koko. Rulgaria was defeated by the Kokomian Peoples Army. Alexandra, Kari and thirteen other royals were later murdered by their guards in prison in Koko.

The next month a disgruntled former-army lieutenant by the name of Annabelle Bragg (see: Empress Annabelle) led a military coup which culminated in Kokomy becoming first the Third Republic of Kokomy and then the Holy Stiloan Empire of Kokomy.} This new Empire defeated Land of Serenity and Mucche Pazze in war, and annexed Balkedonie, Gent and Corsica and Rulgaria. The Kokomian January Revolution brought Rosa back to power and created the Fourth Republic of Kokomy or Free Republic of Kokomy.
