Zwangzug prides itself on its political freedoms: many political parties have sought to take advantage of its preferential voting system, established by members of the former Precalculus Party. Its major current parties are:

  • Infinite Power Party: formed under the guise of mathematical exploration (n^∞), this group rapidly became a strong force due to its successful push for longer parliamentary terms.
  • Pragmatic Radical Party: a group formerly considered too small to be potent, its accomplishments include aligning a coalition of other small parties.
  • Liberal Conservative Party: liberal on social issues, and for conservatism when it comes to the environment, this party includes members such as the newest Supreme Court justice.
  • Progressive Traditionalist Party: having not much of a tradition to follow in, their progressivism comes through by their interests in banning everything. Targets such as tobacco, alcohol, and capitalism have been enthusiastically opposed: Harry Potter books, same-sex marriage, and graffiti are still around.
  • Mental Asylum Party: a rapidly-growing group advocating health-care spending and tolerance of all neurologies, it nevertheless is not understood by much of an apathetic populace.
  • Capitalism Now Party: despite its harsh criticism and disdain of poetry and culture, it is still a vocal minority, especially in Zwangzug's major twin cities, despite national preference for capitalism someday, maybe, or just not at all.
  • National Socialist Grammarian Writers' Party: the current Composite Minister's party, a combination of idealistic socialistic economic policies and high funding for education with positively anti-social arrogant standards, this group has popularized such slogans as "Apostrophe or Catastrophe" and "Heil Hyphens!".
