The Federal Republic of Lontorica (German: Bundesrepublik Lontorika) was a nation of over 4 billion people in Terranordalis. It played a crucial role in shaping the history of Paripana, and was one of three superpowers in the region at the time, along with Commerce Heights and Bedistan.

History

Not long after the nations of Paripana formed out of the ruins of Boopsylvania, Lontorica began a policy of aggressive expansion, claiming a vast unowned territory in central Paleoparipia and a small piece of land on Syoko Island. They then took advantage of their geography by making a play for control of the region, clamping down on transportation in and out of their nation and causing massive transportation problems with people trying to cross between the east and west sides of the so-called “Steel Curtain” through the narrow border between Commerce Heights and Bedistan. This action lead to the First Paripanan War, in which Commerce Heights, Bedistan, and Bætica forced Lontorica’s surrender within the first day.

Lontorica continued its imperialistic ways during the days of the Holy Patriarchate with the founding of a colony on Evestigatus, though it later gained semi-autonomy as Tarraconesis. After an international incident relating to Karl Rove Rocks’s nuclear stockpile on the border with Boopsylvania, Lontorica played a marginal role in the Second Paripanan War, in which a pan-Paripanan alliance invaded Aquilla and its various colonies with little success. Lontorica was one of the primary organizers of moving the nations of Paripana to Terranordalis, escaping Bætica’s dictatorial control of the region. After the move, Lontorica became much more isolationist in its ways, forming the Federal Republic. At the fall of the United Siokaji Consortium, Lontorica swallowed a vast chunk of Sokojito, causing internal political tensions. When the USC was recreated in the form of Sorujito and Siokito, these tensions escalated, as Sokojitans that had lost their native culture with the Lontorican occupation wanted to become part of the new USC. Eventually, this caused the fall of Lontorica, which was quickly absorbed by Commerce Heights and Bedistan. After Bedistan was evacuated from Paripana, a portion of former Lontorica was disputed between Commerce Heights and Tingitana, which eventually became a successor state to Lontorica, Lontorika.
