Lyonais is a province in central St Samuel. The province borders Mont-Canisi Province, Brunswick Province, Frankfort Province, Abbincourt Province and Breton Province and shares an international border with the Holy Empire of Saint Holden. The provincial capital is Saint Maria. The current Lord Protector of Lyonais is Sir Luciano Di Della-Maldino. It's five largest cities are Saint Maria, Lyonaisia, Aldermere, Saint Jacques and Donalderton.

Lyonais is known for its history and religion, which the province has an abundance of.

History

1500BC - Saint Maria founded by the Sambini tribe, city then known as Syracorsia.

301BC - The Batikan's made Syracorsia it's administrative capital.

10BC - Francisco is made the new capital of Holdinia.

140AD - King Eades made Syracorsia the new capital of Greater Holdinia, which he had renamed Saint Maria after Mary Magdalene the devoted disciple of Jesus.

146AD - In 146AD King Eades divides the kingdom of Greater Holdinia between Lord Knights that remained loyal to him during the war. His most trusted Knight, Sir Marius Di Lyonais is made Lord Knight of Lyonais.

1022AD - After the collapse of the Kingdom of Greater Holdinia, Saint Maria remains the capital of the Northern Holdinia kingdom.

Physical geography & Climate

The province borders Mont-Canisi province, Brunswick province, Frankfort province, Abbincourt province and Breton Province and shares an international border with the Holy Empire of Saint Holden.

The landscape consists of broad plains. As you move to central Lyonais the terrain features rolling hills. In the north of the province there are the highlands. The farmland is very rich making terrain for some of the best farming in the country. The Sambini River flows through the Lyonais province from the north, through central Lyonais and south into the Breton province.

Lyonais has a typical Mediterranean climate. This means mild winters and hot summers. Rains concentrate during November and December and between March and April. Average temperature during the coldest month is 8° C. (48 F. ) whilst average temperature in July is 24° C. (75,2 F.).

Economy

Lyonais' gross province product in 2005 was $963.5 billion. Its 2005 per capita personal income was £40,072, an increase of 4.2% from 2004. Lyonais' agricultural outputs are dairy products, cattle and other livestock, nursery stock, and apples, cultivation of wine grapes, fruit, vegetables and olives. Its industrial outputs are printing and publishing, scientific instruments, electric equipment, machinery, chemical products, and tourism.

Lyonais exports a wide variety of goods such as foodstuffs, commodities, minerals, manufactured goods, cut diamonds, and automobile parts. Lyonais' five largest export markets in 2004 were Abu Omar ($30.2 billion), Sothern Holdina ($3.3 billion), Samah Island ($2.6 billion), San Nicholas Bay ($2.4 billion), and Mount Francis ($1.8 billion). Lyonais' largest imports are oil, gold, aluminum, natural gas, electricity, rough diamonds, and lumber.

Abu Omar is a very important economic partner for the province. 23% of the province's total worldwide exports went to Abu Omar in 2004. Tourism is also a large part of the economy. Omarians spent £487 million in 2004 while visiting the province.

The city of Saint Maria is the leading center of banking, finance and communication in the St Samuel and is the location of the St Samuel Stock Exchange, the largest stock exchange in the Union of Saint Holden. Many of the region's largest corporations are based in the city.

The state also has a large manufacturing sector that includes printing and the production of garments, furs, railroad equipment and bus line vehicles. Many of these industries are concentrated in the north of the province. Saint Jacques and Donalderton are major centers of nanotechnology and microchip manufacturing, while the Lyonaisia area is important in photographic equipment and imaging.

Lyonais is a major agricultural producer, ranking among the top five provinces for agricultural products including dairy, apples, potatoes, onions, wine, grapes, fruit, and olives. The province is the largest producer of wine in St Samuel. The province has about a quarter of its land in farms and produced £3.4 billion in agricultural products in 2001.

The south of Lyonais provides the right mix of soils and climate for many apple, wine, grapes, fruit, olives and peach orchards. Apples are also grown in Saint Jacques and near Lake Merelda. In the south, Sarica and Adeena have many vineyards. Lyonais is the nation's third-largest grape-producing province, and largest wine producer by volume. In 2004, Lyonais' wine and grape industry brought £6 billion into the province economy. The province has 30,000 acres (120 km²) of vineyards, 212 wineries, and produced 200 million bottles of wine in 2004.

Sport

Like the rest of St Samuel, football in Lyonais is huge. The province has two King's division teams, Saint Maria and Lyonaisia which both have huge followings. The international side also plays it's home games at the Park of King's stadium in Saint Maria, which is an 80,000 all seater state of the art venue, with re-tractable roof, and under-soil heating.

Auto racing, boxing, horse and camel racing, athletics, rugby, cricket, basketball and ice hockey all get wide support in Lyonais.
