Marxgrad is the capital of the Newcommunist Republics. It is a free city and does not belong to any of the different countries in the nation. The City is the nations cultural and economical center and contains the most important industry of the country.

Geography and Architecture

Marxgrad lays at the north end of the Newcommunist Republics´ member-Country "New Orkney" at the river of "Borezhov". The center of Marxgrad lays on the East of the river, but large urban areas can be found far in the east on the hills that surround the rivervalley. Newly Buldings are standing on the westside of the wide Borezhov river. Especially the modern industries take place in this district.

The center of Marxgrad is the old "Shakespearetown". Shakespearetown had beautiful old stone-buildings, which sadly were mostly destroyed in the second World War. Today it´s a mixture of the remaining old buildings (today mostly used as cultural buildings, shops and hotels) and buildings from the sixties and seventies, which also dominate the east of the city - large, dirty buildings where most of the people of Marxgrad live. Today the government tries very hard to renovate this buildings and to obtain better living quality. In the center of Marxgrad also lays "Government lane", leading to the large "House of Government" - a large, modern and beautiful building from 1998, surrounded by parks and offering a place for all institutions of the government in Marxgrad.

The westside of the river is the new "Sorokin-district". A few big but comfortable residential buildings can be found here, but more important is the modern machine- and automobile-industry and the new harbor at the river.

History

In 1855 Marxgrad was founded as "Shakespeare-town" and became the capital of the New-Orkney Colony. From here the silverore of the inner country was shipped down the river to the ocean and then to the motherland. With the collapse of the silvermining in the colony, Shakespeare-town invested into the machine industry, but became never more than a bunch of little suppliers for the british empire. The strenght of the whole colony remained the Beef based Agriculture When General Archer declared himself "Ruler for Lifetime" in 1962, he renamed "Shakespeare town" into "James Archer City". With the Success of the Socialist Freedom movement the city was renamed again, this time into Marxgrad. The existing machine industry was strenghtened and today Marxgrad is the most important producer of machines and automobiles in the Newcommunist Republics.
