Introduction :

The Galactic Empire of Mationbuds is a huge, safe nation, renowned for its compulsory military service. Its hard-nosed, hard-working, cynical population of 602 million are ruled by a mostly-benevolent dictator, who grants the populace the freedom to live their own lives but watches carefully for anyone to slip up.

It is difficult to tell where the omnipresent, corrupt government stops and the rest of society begins, but it juggles the competing demands of Law & Order, Defence, and Public Transport. Citizens pay a flat income tax of 76%. A powerhouse of a private sector is led by the Arms Manufacturing industry, followed by Uranium Mining and Information Technology.

Scientists regularly clone human beings for research purposes, scenic mountain valleys are flooded with water as damming projects get underway, billions of mationdollars are being blown on orbital weapons development, and a cyber-war between file sharers and the music industry formats hard drives across the country. Crime -- especially youth-related -- is totally unknown, thanks to the all-pervasive police force. Mationbuds's national animal is the mationbuds, which frolics freely in the nation's many lush forests, and its currency is the mationdollar.
