The Mediterranean or simply The Med is a region in the NationStates game. It is not to be confused with The Mediterranean, a different region.
Lygonia, the Regional Delegate was replaced by Andytank who went on an endorsement swapping campaign in March of 2007. Lygonia has been back as delegate since a short lived Endless Summer delegacy in April 2007

The Mediterranean region is a beautiful and mostly peaceful region, whose countries share a tranquil sea and thousands of years of cultural and commercial relationships. Its nations co-operate very closely to ensure harmony & prosperity for all their peoples.
Please visit the offsite Mediterranean Forums where the real action takes place around here. There, nations take part in regional sporting events, elections, and the occasional RP confrontation.

Executive Council
The Mediterranean is governed by a Executive Council. The Council is made up of three executives, who are democratically elected. The allowed to run for two terms which consist of four months.
Currently, The executives are:
- Minister of Regional Affairs New Kingman - In charge of the Regional Governing Council, which is a senate. Is the head of the legislative branch. Serves as an Admin.
- Minister of Foregin Affairs Freedomstaki - In charge of all foreign affairs such as creating alliances with other regions and settling diffrences between them and the Mediterranean, and also the Delegate. Is the liason to the NS region, Mediterranean, and the NS world in general. In charge of the Office of Cartography, the maping office of the Med.
- Minister of Information Edenburg - The Admin of the Mediterranean Regional Forum and it's Library. In charge of the board and technical support for the board. This individual represents the physical interests of the forum.
Judicial Council
The Judicial Council is the Supreme Court of the Mediterranean. Democratically elected, the Judicial Councilhears cases between two nations over disagreements, interprets the Charter, or constitution of the region, and can strike down laws that are unconstitutional. The members of the Judicial Council serve 6 month terms, with no more than two consecutive terms.
Currently, the Judicial Council is:
- Seat 1 Oppressed Communists
- Seat 2 Satimon
- Seat 3 Angolistica
The Charter
The Mediterranean is a constitutional democracy, governed by a document referred to as "The Charter". Drafted in 2004, the Charter provides for the apparatus of government. It supplies the legislative, executive, and judicial branches, along with flexible guidelines about member rights and limited actions.
The Charter is a flexible document meant to provide a framework for the members of the region. Drafting began on January 27th, 2004, with an exploratory vote. It was officially ratified on August 7th, 2004. It was drafted by these nations:
- Lygonia
- Satimon
- Ruinsherv
- Tripolis
- Tyraelus
- Freedomstaki
The end of 'The Med'
The Med came to end in Janurary 2006, certian important nations left for the other Mediterranean reigon, The Meditterean, which had been restarted in September 2005. The decrease in players became the Mediterrean's undoing. Edenburg spearheaded a move with fellow RGC members New Kingman and Freedomstaki. New Kingman accepted and after contacting Freedomstaki, they jumped ship leaving the Med in shmables. Even more countries jumped ship and now the old Med is down to 8 users.

Upon the re-founding of the region by one of the original Med powers almost all the nations from The Mediterranean have either returned or joined 'The Med'. The region is currently going through a tremendous spurt of growth and with it came the return of splendid RP'ing.
