The Extraterritorial Sovereign Ariddian Territory has no permanent military forces of its own. Its defence is the responsibility of Ariddia. However, there is an Esati Border Guard Force (EBGF, Garde Frontalière Taesienne), exercising an essentially ceremonial function.

The EBGF is composed of Ariddian soldiers provided by Ariddia on a rotational basis. The Esati Border Guard Force has its own ceremonial military uniforms (as pictured). The Force usually consists in three soldiers: one manning the Esati building's main entrance, one guarding the emergency exit, and one guarding the entrance to the Esati public room. Only the latter may grant unscheduled access to foreigners.

Esati guards have guard cabins (as pictured). Although these are located on Ariddian territory, they are placed under Esati sovereignty. They are, therefore, surrounded by an invisible and essentially symbolic border.

While wearing the EBGF uniform, a soldier responds to the commands of the Esati authorities, until he or she is returned (by the Esati government) to Ariddian jurisdiction. Esati guards do not benefit from Esati nationality or citizenship.

The EBGF is, in theory, affiliated to the regional Uhuhland Defence Force, although what this means in practice has never been clarified.
