Preface

The Mindsettian Cityships of Midna Beta have been the home, and heart, of The Empire for over one thousand years, since the destruction of Midna Solaris after its sun went nova due to an ill-calculated gravatics experiment. Midna Beta does not contain any life-supporting planets, as it is a binary star system. When the refugee cryoships carrying to safety the five hundred million people displaced from Midna Solaris arrived insystem, it was realised that they did not have enough fuel to continue searching for a suitable landing site. Instead, they decided to drop into a low orbit around a Neptune-coloured supergas giant, now known as Midna. A few survivors were awakened by the onboard first generation AI, and collectively they decided to latch the ships together, and combine their small manufacturing base in order to attempt to construct a temporary shelter from the howling radiation belt surrounding the planet. A thousand years later, there are three cityships orbiting Midna. M-1, M-2 and M-3, with M-1 housing over 1.8 billion citizens.

• Additional Notes:
  • Hull is strengthened by Mindsetti Molecular Binding Generators located near the rear of the ship.
  • Hull is coated in a thin layer of "exotic matter", which has negative mass. This causes a weak inverted gravity field, which "pushes" (in reality, it makes them fall away from the hull) dust etc. away from impacting the hull. This allows the ship to enter atmospheres, and dust clouds. It was constructed in the upper atmosphere of a gas supergiant, and requires a visit back every fifty years to refuel.
