A brief history of Everything:

From the Historical Annuals of The Borogravia Moldavi Empire:

The First Age of Chaos:

543BCE - 123CE: The initial settling of the high plains area of Greater Moldavi begins with the founding of the first permanent cities by the nomadic tribes of the wastelands.

123CE: The first governmental system is established in the lands of Greater Moldavi. Early records show that the governing council controls 8 small villages, 3 border outposts and 2 stone fortresses.

123CE - 476CE: Expansion of the Moldavi realms. Settlers are sent to the coastal plains and deltas of what will soon become Borogravia to capture furtile lands for farming.

476CE: Stromholde Kasamov is born. Son of a powerful chieftain among the ruling council Stromholde will soon rise to great importance.

The birth of Stromholde Kasamov is marked historically as the end of The First Age of Chaos.

The Age of the Conquerors:

492CE: Stromholde Kasamov, at the age of 16, rests control of Greater Moldavi from the ruling council with the backing of several land overlords of Borogravia.

502CE: The first stones of Stromholde Castle are laid.

492CE - 547CE: The reign of Stromholde Kasamov. His expansion and conquering plans increase the size of Greater Moldavi by 400%. The lower deltas and plains of Borogravia are firmly sealed under the control of Kasamov.

539CE: Stromholde Kasamov plans and carries out the “Cleansing.” All land barons in Borogravia and all chieftains in Greater Moldavi are eliminated. Stromholde Kasamov is crowned the first Emperor of Greater Moldavi. His son, Vlad Stromholde Moldavi, is named Prince Regent of Borogravia.

547CE: Stromholde Kasamov dies at the age of 71in the newly finished Stromholde Castle. His brother, Stephan Kasamov, assumes the throne. This action prompts Vlad Stromholde Moldavi to call for the independence of Borogravia and thus the First Civil War begins.

547CE - 562CE: The First Civil War. Both Greater Moldavi and Borogravia field massive armies and take huge losses in the 15 year conflict. Stephan Kasamov is mortally wounded at the Battle of Kronigstan, prompting the military council of Greater Moldavi to sue for peace with the forces of Borogravia.

The death of Stephan Kasamov is historically marked as the end of

the Moldavi VI (the Selected) Moldavi establish a parliamentary body that is elected by the peoples of The Empire. Parliament is made up of two houses. The upper house, or Marchanus, is composed of 50 Senators (officially designated as Polemarchians), the lower house, or Pilan, is composed of 100 Senators (officially designated as Pilanius). Both Polemarchians and Pilanius are elected to five year terms.

1585CE: The first Parliament convenes and bestows the title of ArchDuke Hegemon on Mikael Stefanovich, the High Commander of the Royal Armies. It is decided that due to the strong monarchist views of the people of Greater Moldavi and in hopes of maintaining a lasting peace that the ArchDuke Hegemon will be elected to a life term. The office holds much power but is limited to the laws set forth by Parliament. The ArchDuke Hegemon is also consecrated as head of the official Emperial Church.

The election of Mikael Stefanovich as ArchDuke Hegemon ends The Age of Kings and marks the beginning of The Third Age of Peace.

The Third Age of Peace:

A Chronology of ArchDuke Hegemons:

1585CE – 1624CE: Mikael Stefanovich 1624CE – 1641CE: Claus Kalinski 1641CE – 1659CE: Vlad von Ivanosovich I (the Visioned)

1659CE – 2010CE: 14 ArchDuke Hegemons served during this period following the term of Vlad the Visioned. No major events or wars occurred during this time period. Several key advances in science and mathematics did occur, along with great strides in social welfare and health related policies. Over the centuries The Borogravia Moldavi Empire has prospered and gained influence in the world. Legislative reforms have made the office and personage of the ArchDuke Hegemon more than just a figurehead. While still elected by the Parliament that is where control of the Parliament truly ends. Several times ArchDuke Hegemons have been able to secure the same position for their heir through backroom dealings with high level Polemarchians and Pilanius. The ArchDuke Hegemon was granted the right to veto legislation in 1894CE, thus firming their hold on The Empire.

2010CE – present (2052CE): Vlad von Ivanosovich IV (the Longlived) Vlad von Ivanosovich IV is the longest serving ArchDuke Hegemon in The Empires history. He has held his position for 42 years and is still very active in public politics at the age of 83. He is both feared and loved by the peoples of The Empire. It is rumored that a strong underground movement to restore the monarchy has taken great strides in recent years and has actually received the blessing of the last male heir to the house Stromholde Moldavi. Ivan Stromholde Kalinski Moldavi is an elected member of the Marchanus and is considered a strong candidate for election into the position of ArchDuke Hegemon once Vlad the Longlived dies. If this does occur it is thought that the first action undertaken by this new ArchDuke Hegemon will be to dissolve Parliament and reclaim the crown for his family. To this end the armed forces of The Empire are always on high alert to either assist or put down any rebellion that will most likely come from such a development. It is unclear which side the military will take in such a conflict.
