The Mercenary State of Nation of Fortune

The Mercenary State of Nation of Fortune has many unique things about it. The first and foremost being that it's government is nearly entirely dependent on the lease of their military troops. This has led to changes in the way the government handles its children. Another thing that the nation profits highly off of is the lease of special forces soldiers for special jobs such as assassinations.

The School System

NoF's school system is unique from that of most other nations. The nations school system is required for all able children when they turn four. From this point in there lives they will live, breath, eat, and sleep in the school they have been assigned to. The first day they will all be introduced to their main instructor, who will give them their first taste of what's to come for the next four years. They will get their heads shaved, both males and females. From there they will get issued several sets of clothes that they will be have to take care of. They will then be herded into a seperate room, and those that didn't comply, or gave the guards a hard time will be on a public display of punishment, to show what happens when they make a hassle. After this display all the students are brought to their first class, which will teach them how to read, write, and do mathematics. After this class they will head to their martial arts class where they will learn how to handle themselves in hand to hand combat. After this they will be brought to their first goverment funded breakfast. They will recieve a large breakfast, and will be required to eat it all. Punishment is severe for those who fail to finish all of their food. Immediatly following breakfast they will begin physical training, their training regime over time they will progressively work it's way up in difficulty in training. Following this they will be introduced to their barracks. They will be given 15 minutes for all of the students to claim there area, shower, and make it back to their instructor in full uniform. After their break they are brought immediatly to weapons training. Here they will receive training for the proper handling and care of firearms for the first year, and then they will be training in marksmanship. After this they will go into wilderness survival training. After this they will receive lunch, the same rules as breakfast applies. After luch they will be immerged into a second PT session. They will be brought back to their quarters and will be left 30 minutes to shower, square their areas away, and get into uniform before inspection. After inspection they will begin drill, at first without weapons, but after a year they will do so with. After drill they will begin to learn battlefield tactics. After this they will go immediatly to dinner. After dinner they will work on team building excersizes, so they will learn how to think outside the box to solve problems they are presented with. After this they will learn about the traditions, customs, and history of NoF. At about ten o'clock it will be lights out, this time is used for preparing uniforms, doing assignments that were given during their classes, associating with other students, and lastly sleeping. This routine will go on for several years, until they are ready to graduate from phase one of the training when they turn nine.

Before the students can graduate from this school they need to pass a Final exam, that will test their abilities, it will also eliminate those who are unsuitable to continue on, and it will determine the strengths of each student to determine what specialty school he or she will be attending during the next phase of training. The final exam consits of several parts. First off students will have a marksmanship contest. Secondly they will start off with a timed event, kind of like capture the flag. The students will be given two days to find a flag in a forest. There is one flag for each student, no two flags are in the same spot. These students must use everything they have learned to avoid traps, natural disasters, find food, and avoid armed patrols by much more experienced soldiers. The soldiers are given orders to shoot and kill on site. After the two day limit is up, or all of the students return to the designated point, they will shuttle the students to an arena. They will run a ten mile run with fifty pounds of gear on their backs and a rifle. The next event is a two man deathmatch. The students will be paired off with a different student where they will fight to the death with their barehands. Bodies are not cleaned up after each fight, and there are no rules other than two students enter, one or none walk out. If there are an odd number of students the odd one will be handeled on an individual basis. After the deathmatches students will be taken to a placement test to determine what field they will be placed in.
