The National University of Kerla is the biggest university in Kerla. There are more then eighty campuses all around the country. The university is the only university to surive the rebellion. There are more then 500,000 students. It is more like a university system, then an university.

History

The National University of Kerla was set to further educate the minds of young Kerlans. When the Republic was young, the leaders decided they needed a way to educate and train young Kerlans. The first NUK was in what is now known as Abbott. The univeristy was chartated as the National University of Kerla in 1963. The first year the student population was 52 students.

Goverance

The goverance of NUK, like the country is very unique. The university is governed by the Board of Trustees, in which the president is also the head of the university. Each campus is led by a provost, in which he or she reports to the president.

Board of Trustees

The Board of Trustees conists of nine members, in which three are appointed by the Surpreme Executive Council, three are appointed by the National Assembly and the other three are appointed by the Education Directorate. Trustees serve nine years. They make appoint the president and the senior executives. They also set the objectives of the univerisity and the mission statement.
