An unprecendented step was taken by Odhran Torin in May 2006 who came to the aid of The Anumist Alliance. Region threat warning was raised to the penultimate highest ever rating, yellow, and troops were asked to be assembled. The Government devised the 'Expeditionary Action' bill which allowed up to 150,000 troops to be placed anywhere in the Anumist Alliance. This was met with fierce resistance by the Democratic House (Niplomian Parliament) and Niplomian citizens, many of whom want no part in an international war. Torin argued that foreign agressive nations were mass-murderes and threat to national rights and security, especially 'Lawton Park'. When the bill was finally voted upon 371 voted for with 358 against - both the official opposition and government rebels voted against. Nether the less an 'International Force' was assembeled and is currently situated in Niploma.

History

Traditionally, and since creation, Niploma has been excessivly peaceful. Indeed, the 'New Armed Forces' (as they are casually known) will be the first for around fifty years. The last soldiers in Niploma's army were sacked and the Armed Forces dissolved in 1954 as it was realised Niploma's community could live peacefully.

Yet, the Socialist Internationalist Party chose before the new re-election that an Armed Forces should be created to, 'Defend Niploma from international threats, defend our people from unforeseen disasters and to add to our National Pride'. Mr. Robert, Niplomas Prime Minister, further re-assured his public by delcaring that spending would be 'minimal'. It is expected spending to be less than 1% of GDP.

Niploma's lower house, the Democratic House, voted overwhelmingly for an Armed Forces. It was agreed that the forces would be planned and prepared before Samhain, the celebration of the end of Celtic summer. The Armed Forces will be 'ready' by 2006 at latest.

New PM Torin signed the 'Niplomiam Armed Forces Act' and continued the reform of the Armed Forces in Niploma. Under his command the Forces would be used to combat souther-seperatists whose violence was still at-large. Torin also had plans to use the forces as a multi-national peacekeeping force.

Roughly 0.25% of Niploma's population are within the armed forces.

Missions & Exercises

Currently the threat warning is at National Low (penultimate to lowest threat level of zero) but the specialist terror warning is at Regional Terror Warning: South High.

With regards to international missions NAF is only interested in peaceful missions. In addition to this is co-operates with Anumia's Armed Forces which are well known for their size and expertise. The two nations co-operate in several areas. Current PM Torin commented on training from Anumian men by saying, 'Together we're stronger, and our forces cannot ask for a stronger or more responsible ally'.
