The Holy Imperial Republic of Nueve Italia

Overview

Nueve Italia is a modern nation based on an island called Isola Dorata, and is situated in a climate zone that stretches from temperate in the North to Mediterranean in the South. The original nation, based on Isola D'Argenta, was founded during the early half of the 20th Century by a mix of Spanish and Italian settlers. The 47 provinces that would come to make up Isola D'Argenta would fight power wars with one another until they were unified by Emperor Paolo Gori in 1974 during the Wars of Assimilation. At moment, Paolo's grandson, Antonio Orsini Gori, heads the Holy Imperial Republic.

History

Before 1974, the most powerful of the 47 provinces was that of Ineffio. It was from Ineffio that Paolo Gori would come from and lead an army that would crush all resitance to unification. In 1973, the King of Ineffio, Severo Drazzini, was nearing the end of an unprecendented military build-up with the original goal to be capturing the 4 surrounding provinces of Ghiaccio, Reminze, Olo, and Benzera. The next year, this army marched out and indeed captured these provinces with little resistance. However, upon seeing the ease of the victory, many military commanders, including Paolo Gori (in command of an Infantry Division a the time), pressed Drazzini to extend Ineffio further. This he agreed to, but first he established an alliance with the Northeastern province of Ursinili, letting its leader know just what was about to happen. In response, Prime Minister Riccardo Filui of Ursinili sent forth his province's own armies to capture three more provinces to the west, of which he donated one, Milano, to King Drazzini. Milano would come to be the heart of Nueve Italia, and at the time it was valued for strategic placement and its sheer abundance of raw resources. The King accepted this tribute and an alliance was formed: with the combined military might of now 8 provinces between the two leaders, the armies of Ineffio and Ursinili began to take over the entire North of Isola D'Argenta
