The largest and oldest corporation in Otagia, Pale Rider Arms is virtually inseperable from the Otagian government. Indeed, it is difficult in many circumstances to tell if one is dealing with a branch of the Rider or with an Otagian official. This is only exacerbated by the fact that the CEO of Pale Rider Arms is QUETZAL, the super-sentient AI that serves as Regent-Elect of Otagia.
History
Pale Rider Arms was founded in 1945 by American entrepeneur Antonius Quetzal, and was originally devoted to producing high quality small arms. However, PRA was too small to compete with the big name countries in the United States, and when Antonius saw the open market in the newly born state of Otagia, he seized the opportunity, securing an exclusive contract with the Otagian Regular Army for production of a main battle rifle. The corporation soon moved on to a variety of other products, including several unorthodox chemical, and later biological, weapons.
In 1973, Pale Rider Arms assumed control of the Otagian government through a series of transactions that gave PRA seats in the Otagian parliament. Using this power, Antonius instated himself as Regent-Elect. However, this is as far as he went, rarely using PRA's seats to influence sessions of Parliament, abstaining from most votes. His successors continued this tradition, leaving the Otagian government to its own devices. This tradition continues into the modern day.
Antonius stepped down as CEO and Regent in 1987, to be succeeded by his 18 year old son Daniel Quetzal.
