Politics of Hipolis

The politics of Hipolis takes the form of a parliamentary, representative democratic monarchy, whereby the Chancellor is the Head of Government. Hipolis is an independent and neutral nation. Executive power is exercised by the Government. Legislative power is exercised by the two houses of Parliament. The judiciary is independent of both and possesses the power of judicial review. Legally, the final court of appeal is the Royal Court of the All Giving Heart, presided over by Her Majesty, the Queen. However, this court almost never hears criminal cases. For all practical purposes, the highest court in Hipolis is the High Court. The Hipolitan political system is guaranteed by a constitution which also contains such guarantees of individual liberty as freedom of speech, religion, worship, movement, assembly, and the press, as well as the right to bare arms and the right to privacy.
