The Republic of Praetoria Novus is a relatively new and unknown nation located in the Northern Hemisphere. The nation is a constitutional republic with a parliamentary democracy.
Politics

The Republic of Praetoria Novus is a constitutional republic and has a parliamentary system of government. Valentian Jovinus is the current President of the Republic; however the President is primarily a symbolic figure as the Constitution gives few executive powers to him or her and these are in any case normally exercised only on the advice of the Prime Minister and his or her cabinet.
There are three branches of government.
- The legislature: the Republican Parliament, comprising the Senate of the Republic of Praetoria Novus and the President of the Republic. The President's is a symbolic role.
- The executive: the Federal Executive Council comprising the Prime Minister and his or her cabinet, the ministers of state.
- The judiciary: the Supreme Court of the Republic and other national courts. The State courts are formally subordinate to the Supreme and other national level courts.
The mono-cameral Republican Parliament consists of a Senate of 600 members. Members of the Senate are elected from single-member constituencies, commonly known as 'seats'. Seats in the Senate are allocated to the states of the Republic on the basis of population. Elections for the Senate of the Republic are held every four years. The party with majority support in the Senate of the Republic forms Government, with its leader becoming Prime Minister.
There are three major political parties: the Praetoria Novus Social Democracy Party, the Liberal Democratic League of Praetoria Novus and the Constitutional Republican Party of Praetoria Novus. Since 1 October 2005, the Praetoria Novus Social Democracy Party led by the Prime Minister, Urbunus Postimus Victorinus, has been in power in Elucia. Voting is compulsory in the Republic of Praetoria Novus at all levels.
Armed Forces
There are four independant branches of the Praetoria Novus Military. These include the Praetoria Novus Army (PNA), Praetoria Novus Navy (PNN), the Praetoria Novus Airforce (PNAF) and the Praetoria Novus Strategic Forces (PNSF).
Praetoria Novus Strategic Forces
The Praetoria Novus Strategic Forces is the branch of the military that is responcible for unconventional strategic warfare, especially nuclear warfare. At present, it is known that Praetoria Novus has superior nuclear capabilities, and is equiped with a formidable array of 880 advanced "Paradox IV" ICBMs in armoured silos. These provide Praetoria Novus with impressive nuclear deterrence, and are the backbone of the PNSF. Praetoria Novus nuclear doctrine dictates that their thermonuclear arm be capable of surviving any preemptory strike so as to be fully able to secure mutually assured destruction (MAD) based on second-strike capabilities alone regardless of the anti-ballistic missile capabilities of their enemies.
