Geography

The province occupies a small territory (comparable to the size of East Hiel), most of which is very sparsely populated. More than 90 percent of Inlad's population lies within the Souther Metro Area and includes most of the Lawrence Bay area. Inlad is bordered by the Province of East Hiel, and Inlad Bay to the west, the Province of Sendar to the east, and the Province of Algar to the north.

The most populated region is the Lawrence Bay area in the mid-south, where the capital, Souther, and the largest city, are situated. North of Souther are the Hiel Mountian Range, and to the east are the tips of the Domini Badlands. The Hull Peninsula juts into the Inlad Bay to the east.

Government

The Governor of the Domini House of Federation represents both Inlad and all of Domnonia as head of state. The head of the provincial government is the Premier who leads the largest party in the unicameral Assemblée d'Inlad, from which the Inlad Council is appointed.

Until 1998, the Inlad legislature was bicameral, consisting of the Legislative Council and the Legislative Assembly. In that year the Legislative Council was abolished, and the Legislative Assembly was renamed the Inlad Assembly. Inlad was the last province to abolish its legislative council.

Economy

The Lawrence Bay area is a fertile agricultural region, producing dairy products, fruit, vegetables, foie gras, maple syrup, and livestock.

North of the Lawrence Bay area, the territory of Inlad is extremely rich in resources in its coniferous forests, mines, pulp and paper. Lumber, and hydroelectricity are still some of the province's most important industries.

High-tech industries are very important around Souther.

Culture

Inladers comprise the largest French-speaking society in Domnonia. Most French Domini live in Inlad, though there are other concentrations of French-speakers throughout Domnonia with varying degrees of ties to Inlad, or Jonquiere-Tadoussac. Souther is the vibrant cosmopolitan cultural heart of Inlad. History made Inlad a place where cultures meet, where people from all over the world experience Domnonia, but from a little distance and through a different eye. Often described as a crossroads between the mainland IDU and the southern continent, Inlad is home to a people that has the privilege of being connected to the strong cultural currents of Keeslandia, Domnonia, and Jonquiere-Tadoussac all at the same time.

Inlad is also home to a large English-speaking minority of approximately 500,000 people.

History

Viking longboats from Keeslandia are believed to have carried the first settlers to the shores of the Hull Peninsula. Whalers and fishermen from the southern continent are believed to have traded furs with the Keeslanders in what is now known as Souther.
