The United Islands of Ryanland and Korealand is an Island Nation in the (Eastern) area of the Land of Nonsense. This country was created on March 5th 1848
History
Begining
The two Main Islands of United Islands was first inhabited in the middle of the 18th Century. The Yoshi of the Eastern World beat the Cats by about 50 years and first settled on the shores of Korealand at modern day Korealand City. The Cats of the Western World landed on the shores of Douglas and settled at the City of Douglas, named after their Captain. Eventually the Cats sailed and setteled the Island of Ryanland at Meerstadt.
Slowly the Cats migrated further and further west, in search for more land, where the Yoshi moved east. With the Invention of the Steam Engine and the Wheel, the Cats reached the western coast in no time. In 1790, The Cats settled and created the city Endestadt, because they saw they could go no further. But one day, the Marine Fog cleared, and the Cats first saw the Island of Korealand. They soon built up a navy and a Navigation group. Meanwhile, the Yoshi had just reached the other coast of Korealand when the Army of the Cats landed ashore and attacked. Both sides fought with primitave weapons that resulted in little casualties.
The fighting continued for many years. But in 1840, Ryanland Fisherman reported of a Nation in the East with far more advanced weapons and could bring the end of the two sides with a single rock. After the the leaders of both sides saw this, they brought on a peace treaty that was able to put aside whatever differences they had and brought an end to the war. Then in 1848, The Two Nations merged together to create was is now called THE UNITED ISLANDS OF RYANLAND AND KOREALAND. The city, Endestadt, was renamed Ryanland City, after the AWSOME PERSON that created this Nation, and this page.(SUBJECT TO CHANGE).
10 Year Plan
The first president the the United Islands, Maneki Neko, had urged the nation to fully modernize the army and civilization itself within ten years. Of course, with no outside help, the Complete Modernization had taken 25 years. During those 25 years, the people invented many things to make there lives easier, and boost there economy. After much research and manual labor, people began to realize that if you write documents onto small sheets of paper and binding them together on one side, that this would take up much less space than devoting an entire building with the document written on the walls. After this Discovery, The First Book was Brought about in Ryanland and became a leading industry driving the economy. They also began weave together a thin, yet sturdy material and produced baskets. Entering the the Middle 20th Century, Information Technology became aleading money maker in Ryanland but still trails the Book Publishing Industries.
Expandtion
Space was running slim in Ryanland and Korealand. To accomodate for that, people began to move north on both Islands, and make new cities. And by the begining of the 1900's, the entire islands have been explored, and much had been settled. In the 1920's, people began to move outward onto the smaller islands in the area.
Culture
The Culture of Ryanland and Korealand just as weird and unique as it's neiborghs in the Land of Nonsense. The Offical Languages of Ryanland and Korealand are Ryanese and Koreanese. Ryanese comes from the Cats as a mixture of the English and German back home, as Koreanese is a mixture of Japanese and Korean with the Yoshi. Their Popularity is pretty much equal and most of the Citizens are raised and taught to learn both languages at a young age.
