Senate Elections in Itinerate Tree Dweller
Itinerate Tree Dweller traditionally holds Senate elections ever 10th of February, every four years.
The only directly elected section of the national legislature is the House of Commons. The other two houses are the House of Appointees, which the Emperor appoints directly, and the House of Lords, which consists of hereditary seats. However, citizens do suggest, through their vote, whom they wish the Emperor to appoint to the House of Appointees. Any shift in party affiliation when it comes to the House of Lords is explained by an individual lord actually switching parties. That being said, the Emperor also appoints the Prime Minister, whom currently happens to be his older brother. The Prime Minister is charged with forming a government after the election.
Each house has, by law, a total of 333 seats. The entire senate has a total of 1000 seats, when the Prime Minister is included, as the Prime Minister is not a member of any one house but may vote in each one.
