There is a current region called Soviet Union. There is no current nation called Soviet Union.
There is also another region called The Soviet Union.
There is a nation called --Soviet Union-- (from region European Union) that was actually the first to create a page here.
The region USSR also refers to itself as Soviet Union on occasion.
