Springlake, officially the Constitutional Monarchy of Springlake, is a country in the region of Yvonne. It comprises of the Avalon Peninsula, Spira Island, and the Great Southern Bay. Springlake has a global presence as a center of culture, economics, the upper-middle class, and high education.

The written history of Springlake begins in 5000 P.I. However, Springlake was originally a product of three mega-nations: Fronada, Mountainview, and Polo. These three nations merged in hopes of recovering from the Great Continental Depression.

Springlake has a government in the form of a unitary constituional monarchy: with a king and a parliament (called the Royal Springlake Parliament). Parliament members are appointed by the king and approved by the public representatives. The nation's current leader, King Alec Frogman VII smoothly runs Springlake with Prime Minister Kevin Conway Hwang.

Geography

Springlake's diverse environment can be described as barren, but it is barren in a beautiful way. Soft, rolling hills blanket the outer rim of Springlake and a majestic mountain range, known as the Whitepeak Mountains, cuts through the center of the Avalon Peninsula. Colorful flora and streams decorate Springlake's stunning landscape. A small desert, the Kalimari Desert, is located southwest of the Whitepeak Mountains.

Springlake's climate is generally mediterranean. Light showers and occassional thunderstorms occur once every two weeks in the outer rim. Summer hurricanes transpire in tropical Springlake, primarily in the Isle Delfino area.

People

Springlake is currently home to four different species: the Frogshi, the Yoshi, the Koopa, and the human. These species live in unity, and racial tension is rather low. The Frogshi currently dominates the Springlake population, but population is virutally equal for all four species.

The Frogshi are descendants of the Hypello, a frog-like race whose origins trace back to Spira Island. The Hypelloes' genetic profile was altered after the meteor impact in 0 A.I, and thus, the Frogshi race began. Frogshies have unusually exceptional life spans and jumping capabilities. These characteristics make them physically advantaged for sports such as basketball, soccer, and tennis.

The Yoshi are also descendants of the Hypello, but they carry a dinosaur-like appearance. Yoshies originate from Yoshi's Island.

The Koopa is a turtle-like species who originates from southern Springlake. Koopas have detachable shells that are often used to store valuables at home. In history, Koopas had the ability to fly, but this stunning ability was lost after the meteor impact of 0 A.I.

Humans in Springlake originate from Spira Island. In history, the humans lived with the Hypelloes, Koopas, and Yoshies in the cities of Zanarkand and Bevelle. The meteor impact did not affect the humans' genetic profile.

Economy

[1]

Communications

Springlake has an expansive communications network, with cellular phones and blackberries becoming a necessity to the individual. As a result, the communications industry has become one of the fastest-growing markets in the Springlake economy.

Most Springlake cities have free wi-fi connections, which allows internet users to access the web from any urban area. By 2010, the Springlake government hopes to extend this service to the entire nation of Springlake.

On August 20, 2002, the Parliament passed the Information Protection Act, which illegalized intrusive activities such as hacking, spamming, etc. Electronic-based crimes have been decreasing ever since the act was passed.

Transportation

Springlake has an exceptionally high-tech transportation system. The Transportation Enhancement Fund of 1995 brought trillions of dollars worth of upgrades to Springlake's transportation system. Digital road signs, glass tunnels, longer-lasting pavement, and stunning landscape designs enhance the nation's beautiful roadway system, and larger canals and harbors yield greater economic opportunities for businesses.

Springlake currently has 12 world-famous automotive manufacturers. These manufacturers currently dominate 73% of Springlake's automobile market. However, imports are gradually becoming more popular, with brand-names such as Acura, Honda, Lexus, and Toyota becoming a familiarity in the automotive world.

Street racing was legalized in 2000, but accident rates have remained remarkably low. But as a result, crimes related to street racing have dramatically increased.

Road Transportation

Springlake's road network is categorized in ten different levels: 1-way street, 2-lane road, 4-lane avenue, 4-lane limited-access highway, 6-lane avenue, 6-lane limited-access highway, 8-lane avenue, 8-lane limited-access expressway, 10-lane avenue, and 10-lane limited-access expressway. Different speed limits and regulations apply for each grade of roadway.

The Springlake Motorway Network (SMN)

Springlake's freeway system is known as the Springlake Motorway Network (SMN). Each expressway has a series of amentities:
1. Most urban expressways have elevated expansions, four-lane elevated freeways that are designed as express lanes to ease traffic on its ground-level counterparts.
2. The Springlake Motorway Transportation Service (SMTS): A public transportation system, consisting of taxis, minibuses, and coachbuses for commuters who prefer to ride over drive. The SMTS charges $0.05 or 1 point from the commuter's Springlake Card for each mile traveled. More information on the SMTS is located below.
3. Flora and colorful Avalon-Revival and Roman architecture decorate the SMN landscape, providing a more relaxing drive for commuters.

Major arteries are categorized as High-Volume Corridors: these are 8 to 10-lane superhighways that connect major cities that are at least 25 miles apart from each other. High-Volume Corridors have no speed limits, but aggressive driving is closely monitored by high-performance police cruisers. Drivers with permit-grade licenses are not permitted to use High-Volume Corridors. The first High-Volume Corridor, the [S1] Avalon Greenway, was constructed in 1975.
