Sydelle Chindall (b. 1844 - d. 1882) (r. 1867 - 1882)

Life and Death

Sydelle Chindall was Praetor Emeritus for 15 years. During her rule she concentrated mostly on reforming education. Chindall began her rule with strong legislative decisions, but in the last 5 years of her rule Chindall became, as her Grand Vizier would later say, "unstable of mind". Adopting strange xenophobic tendencies, Chindall commissioned a the Great Morindiran Wall. She had intended that this wall would follow the borders of Morindira completely and protect Morindira from outside invading forces. This thought was somewhat outdated and was recieved poorly by the Praetor's Cabinet. Nevertheless, construction began on the Great Morindiran Wall in 1880 while Chindall cloistered herself in her library, supposedly researching the means to everlasting life. Construction on the Great Morindiran Wall ceased in 1882 when Praetor Chindall died from swallowing mercury pills, which she thought would grant her immortality. After Chindall's death her Grand Vizier, Tabitha S'hanna suceeded as Praetor Emeritus.

Sydelle Chindall's rule is seen mostly as an embarassment by the Morindiran people. While recognized, she is very rarely remembered. The one visible testament to her reign, the fractured Morindiran Wall, is now just a tourist attraction as it never would have given Morindira any sort of militaristic advantage.
