The Tactical High Energy Laser or THEL is a military deuterium fluoride chemical laser. Designed to shoot down incoming projectiles such as rockets, missiles and artillery shells, it was developed jointly by United States and Israel. In 2000, the THEL successfully destroyed several Katyusha rockets in flight as well as artillery shells. Although not adopted on a large scale in RL, NS nations have adopted the system and some have even developed their own. THELs in one form or another are now a part of many nations' arsenals.
