The Taurans are an enigmatic alien species from the Aldebaran stellar system. The name was given to them by mankind and it is unknown by which name, if any at all, they call themselves. Unlike most species in the galaxy, the Taurans do not reproduce in a biological way, but rather through energy, having long shed the need for physical bodies. The Vril Society believed them to be the ancestors of the Aryan race. In the society's theory, the Taurans visited Earth long ago and founded Atlantis. When Atlantis was destroyed, some of the Taurans fled to the underground, while other interbred with humans in a biological way, thus "polluting" their superior heritage, from which the Aryans sprung - still supposedly superior to other races of man, but inferior to the Taurans. The Vril Society believed that strict eugenics were necessary to purify the Aryan heritage of inferior material and thus return them to the power of their ancestors. At some point, the Vril Society made contact with the Taurans, which led to The Forever War, which only ceased when mankind attained a similar evolutionary stage, allowing them to communicate with the vastly superior Taurans.
