Ternpool
Nation: Maanenland
Function: Administrative Centre
Population: 891,364
Leader: Sublieutenant Anthony Graham

The City of Ternpool is the adminstrative centre for the wider Ternpool Province. It is one the largest cities in Maanenland and is a regional centre.

Economy

The city is built next to large amounts of coal and iron ore , although extraction of these accounts for some of the exports of the northern parts of the province , in the city the main product by far is iron and steel. It is estimated that nearly 96% of all iron and steel made within the country originates from this one city.

The majority of the local workforce works in the large steel mills that are located on the shores of Lake Ternpool , the docklands (once the busiest in the nation) have declined in recent years but are still a major hub and exporting point from the nation.

The shipyards of the bay are in steep decline due to falling orders but remain a large employer in the region , the shipyards recieve some subsidies to keep running due to the politically sensitive nature of the city.

Ternpool however does suffer from underemployment in some areas of employment , mostly services , and so has become a major commuting destination and centre of employment for the region.

Politics

The city is split into very distinctive political zones. While the majority of the city is strong Democratic Socialist Alliance territory the more affluent area of the industrialists in Ternpool Western is very strong Maanenland First land. For this reason both the leader of the opposition , Michael Fletcher , and the Lord Lieutenant Alexander Jameson have their constituencies in the city.

Mayor Anthony Graham has been noted for his left-of-centre ideology and has voted in the last elections to send a socialist representative for the city to the House of Regional Commanders.
