The City-State (City-States of Israel-Palestine) are a loose federation or commonwealth that come together in common defense and trade.
The Commonwealth
In late February of 2005 members of the various cities that comprise what was once Israel-Palestine met up and decided to unify. The major problem was figuring in how to retain the powers of the various cities. Unable to come to an agreement, delegates finally decided to just create a network of city-states similar to that of Ancient Greece. The major differences are the fact that the nations "must come to the aid of all the other city-states in the event of an emergency."
The Commonwealth itself is not large only containing eight city-states. (Tel-Aviv, Jersualem, Bethlehem, Jericho, Gaza, Haifa, Hebron & Nahariyya) Each city-state is required to maintain its own military except Jersualem, which is the declared capital of the City-State. Since all citizens are required to serve in the military for a tour of duty, citizens of Jersualem have the special treat of being allow to serve at any city-state in the commonwealth.
The City-State failed in mid-2005 and was disbanded in favor of the return of Israel-Palestine, which has been put together as a Confederacy of States.
