History

The Realist Polities were formed after a number of high officials from half a dozen local potentates, disappointed with their leaders' ideologically driven policies, decided to come together, bring down their respective governments and unite the region in the new "Unitary State of the Realist Polities".

The designation polity was decided upon because the regimes they had overthrown were not considered to be states nor nations - too young and chaotic to bear any of those labels.

As the new nation grew demographically and territorially, the official name changed to Empire of the Realist Polities. The people however still refer to it as "The State".

The still small nation, with all the reforms introduced by its founders, gradually grew into a full ideological empire.

Its ideology Political-Realism, based its canons on authors and philosophers such as Thucydides, Hanfeizi, Sunzi, Niccolo Machiavelli, Jean Bodin, Armand Duplessis, Otto von Bismarck, Gaetano Mosca, Vilfredo Pareto, Robert Michels, James Burnham, Curzio Malaparte, Philippe Mottu, Hans Morgenthau, Kenneth Waltz, Henry Kissinger or John Mearsheimer.

Of the original languages, customs or culture in general, the realist leadership changed nothing, limiting instead its reforms to the already unified political system, foreign policy and defence.

Managerial Council

The Managerial Council is the executive organ of the Realist Polities.

It is based on the teachings of James Burnham, regarding the ascension of a new elite, neither plutocratic nor technocratic, but rather the elite of those with a predisposition to create socially and with a natural gift for power politics.

The Council was created to replace the charismatic one man regimes and henceforth the leadership has always been collective to prevent any type of Bonapartist tendencies.

The Council is comprised of the elected representatives of the various sectors of society except those of the Military-Industrial Complex and the Foreign Policy sectors, which do not promote elections in their midst - since they have to maintain a coherent political and administrative line facing foreign threats - preferring instead power driven reshuffles every now and then.

The Realist Polities' political system is the sociocratic oligarchy. In this system elections are alternatively, by a sector basis. There are no general elections, because it is thought that the common citizen is not qualified enough to have a say in all the choices the nation must make (thus a doctor for instance, can only vote in the elections of the Health sector, and not in those of the education sector, given that he does not understand the intricasies of the latter).

The State also promotes a kind of oligarchy in each of the sectors, because they believe in the "Iron Law of Oligarchy".

Traits

While an ideological empire themselves, the ERP has a profound distaste for other ideological nations whom they despise as "idealists". Often, the ERP will coalesce with other powers against ideological states, in order to abort "idealist crusades".

Doctrines such as the communist "limited sovereignty", the liberal "humanitarian intervention", the "democratic peace" theory and the many theocratic are particularly detested by the Realists.

For the citizens of the Realist Polities, the perfect state is the one that defends only its own interests and that does not interfere in other states' internal issues.

The Realists Polities' protectorates and proxies are usually designated as "regime" for it cannot be a "state" until it is formally joined with the nation of the Empire of the Realist Polities.

The time in the ERP is measured by a gregorian calendar. However, the Realists' time only began with the Treaties of Westphalia, and thus they are now in their 359th year PW (post Westphalia).

Foreign Policy

The Realist Polities maintains very close relations with the Confederacy of Latinumia.

Among the states to have opened formal relations with the Realist Polities are:
