Etymology

Ui was the Chief God of the ancient Uir tribe -ri meant place of in the language of the ancient Uir tribe. -r meant people of in the languag of the ancient Uir tribe. Uiri therefore means Place of Ui, or Place of the Chief God. Uir means people of Ui or People of the Chief God.

History as given to Zhonghua Renguo History Society

Since circa 250 AD there has been a native tribe on the island which is now known as Uiri. They developed a system of trade and established a base unit from which the value of everything was calculated. It was called an Ret. It was a unit of measurement and not like coins or paper money we use today. They developed a tribal system and the value of everything the tribe had was calculated once per solar year. There was no private property only tribe owned property. At first there were many tribes on the land of what is now Uiri. Eventually, through marriage they emerged around five tribes and they defined there own territory and because of the size of the tribe breeded only with in themselves.

Then at around 1500-1600 a French boat trying to find the spanish south america sailed right aournd south america thinking it was the northen continent. This ship eventually spotted The Pacific Islands and landed on the coast of the Uir tribe. The Uir tribe had by then, established dominance over the other tribes. They called the foreigners Fran because there first statement was "Je parle Francais". They believed Francais to mean Fran to mean Foreign and -cais to mean royalty. They thought the foreigner said, "I am foreign royalty". When the foreigners asked what they place was called, the natives were just deciphering the first statement and said "Frani"; and so the territory became the French Colony of Frani. (It's my second country to show what it was like during French rule, with some exadgeration.)

So, the land of the tribe became a colony for around a century or two. That is when the peasants in main land france rebelled and the government of the colony was in distress. What would become of their king? The natives, sensing this, rebelled and drove away the french. The french language and customs became integrated into their society and so they developed the Arjet from the french word for money and silver, Argent.

The tribe struggled to find a system of government where they would choose how they were run. In the Republique de Uiri each citizen would vote from one of three options on what to do on any issue brought up by anyone. They couldn't force everyone to vote but jus as they were trying to solve this problem the English invaded.

The English were soon overthrown and the Uir (by now extended to mean all the natives) enforced a law to make everyone vote. This is how the country has been since around 1830. There haven't been any civil wars and the country has stayed within the Pacific Islands mostly, until the formation of the UN which they joined.

Electoral process

In Uiri because of a large lack of literacy the ballots have boxes with the colour of the corresponding party instead of names.

On the first of April or March, which ever one easter doesn't fall in, every five years there is one big voting across the country. Everyone who is 19 years of age may vote. The votes are tallied up according to which colour( the party which uses it as its colour) gets the most votes. They are also tallied as to which party got the majority at each group of two voting centers. These are then applied to elect people to the Representative Assembly and the Senate.

In Uiri there is a law in the constitution stating that there must be at least three political parties and that one party must use blue, one party must use green and one party must use orange. Each of these three parties have become known as the [insert their respective colour] party.

For the Representative Assembly the total number of votes are divided by 100. The number of hundredths of votes + 1 = the number of seats that party gets in the Representative Assembly. This gives between 100 and 100+total number of parties possible seats. Usually there are 103.

For the senate the voting centers are grouped into 50 groups of two. The majority party of each group gets one seat in the senate giving fifty senators.

The leader of the majority party in the Representative Assembly becomes the Prime Minister who deals with the internal affairs of the country. The leader of the majority party of the senate becomes President who attends diplomatic functions and manges the military.

If a party shares a majority in both Houses then they may take on the functions of Presient and Prime Minister, taking on the title Minister-President or they may hire a close assistant to take one of these functions who may be replaced at anytime.

Geography

A map of uiri

The Green in the north of the map represents the tropical rainforest in the north of Uiri. The little black dots are towns with populations from 1 million to 50 million. There are many of these, especially along the coastline. The grey triangles (and quadrilaterals because they are represented behind the forefront mountains) are mountains. There are many many villages with populations of 1 million or less. The orange is the desert which is created by the rain shadow effect. The blue is surface water. the blue lines are the Kalir River and the river which joins it from a westerly mountain is the Halor River. At the end is a salt water basin. The water which flos down is freshwater but when it reaches the basin it becomes salty because of the minerals in the shores. Along the rivers are more towns and even a couple of villages. Along the coast all around the island are towns. A lot of their economy is based on the privatised beaches.

Gogari, the capital and largest city is in a valley; protected from attack. Pilots flying planes in and out of Uiri International Airport must be trained at the Uir School of Air and Flight. All the government buildings are here and so are the headquarters of many corporations giving services to the citizens of Uiri. The city is also home to UofU or university of Uiri where all the politicians, lawyers, doctors and IT are trained. Of the 450 million inhabitants, 75% earn a yearly income of more than 75,000 USD.

Not far from the Valley of Goga, the valley is also named for the "God" which the capital is named, there is a Tidal energy plant, producing 50% of the electricity in Gogari and 40% of the elctricity of the Rainforest communities. the two or three power plants alone account for 20% of all the electricity of Uiri.

Fokiri, the other big city of the country is situated 10 km north of the Uranium Mines and Nuclear Power Plant Group. All situated in a nice little area. The Nuclear Power Plants produce electricity for all of the desert and some mountain communities. The only place it doesn't provide electricity to is the various communities in the rain forest. It produces the other 50% of the electricity in Gogari and 70% of the countries total electricity. Fokiri has a population of 250 million.

The rainforest communities often consist of factories situated together and the people who work in them - and their families. In between these communities are various farms which are doing the best they can on the rainforest soil, mostly growing exoctic trees including the national one and brewing the national alcoholic drink.

Economy

Uiri's economy is very good as evidenced by it's high GDP and GDP per capita although there are three main industries which are the biggest, Uranium Mining, Information Technology and Automobile manufacturing. The Primary Sector is the biggest followed by the tertiary and then the secondary. This is one of the reason's for Uiri's low literacy rate. Of course, literacy rate is defined as 'being able to read and write a sentence in one's first language'. A lot of people can read but not write, except for their signature.

Uranium Mining

Uiri's biggest sector is Uranium mining because of the large open pit mine 10 km south of Fokiri. It employs 119 million people, most of them miners, constantly rotating shifts because of the radiation. The uranium is then transported to the nearby Power plant. The plant itself employs another 20.4 million and then another 30.6 million to put the Uranium back in another section of the mine. All in all, Uranium Mining and Nuclear Energy employs approximately quarter of the adult population. With the gold, silver and nickel mines it approximately employs 30% of all the adults in Uiri.

Information Technology

There are approximately 34 million IT staff in Goagri. In order to be an IT staff you have to meet 3 criteria but two of them are nescessary for the last.

a) you must be able to read and write b) you must be a graduate of UofU c) you must be registered with the Government.

The first two are more or less only found in Gogari because school is privatised and all of the wealthiest people in Uiri live in the capital or are managing a factory or on of the few mines or power plants in Uiri most of the reading and writing population is in Uiri. Not to mention the fact that University of Uiri is in Gogari.
